So who do you guys think will go first?

I think M Beasley will go first no matter what team gets the first pick.

If the Sonics get the first pick, they are taking Derek Rose. If it's Memphis or Miami, they are taking Michael Beasley. Memphis spent a lottery pick on Michael Conley and have the kid from Villanova, I forget his name, as a PG, too.

The guy I would love for my Knicks to get is Eric Gordon. He plays D, can score and is explosive. Plus, he knows how to play basketball. Most of my bricks, err, Knicks, can't.

Mutadayen, you like Brooke Lopez?

It's not that I like Brook Lopez as i'm not really a fan of alot of centers, but serviceable big men are hard to come by and this draft has very little quality big men to offer. I was watching a breakdown of ESPN's top board and outside of Michael Beasly, Brook Lopez is the next best big man in the draft. Now, everyone will argue with me that Kevin Love is a better prospect, and i agree, but something inside of me is telling me that Kevin Love is going to flame out fast in the pros. I think he's a dominant college player, but something just tells me that I dont think he's going to be big in the pros. I think he's another version of Nick Collison at most.

Going back to Lopez, he's a legit center with good skills. He'll be serviceable and I think he'll be like Andrew Bogut, but just more athletic. The game is starting to become a bit more run and gun (THANK GOD!!!) and you need athletic big men who can run the floor. I think teams will realize that he's the only legit center that a developing team will need, and some team will trade up to get him. If not three, then not that far after. I guess its that old notion that you cant teach height. I agree that Eric Gordon is much better, as is Bayless and a slew of other players, but trends tell me that good big men dont come along often and teams will take a risk because the reward can be great. Alot of teams have decent centers that they rotate, but not alot teams have great centers that are the centerpiece, or one of hte center pieces to their teams.

I'm a huge Knicks fan, so tonight is very important for me. If we could get Rose (if we get #1 or #2) that'd be huge. Gordon i'm not completely sold on, bayless looks really good, and mayo has off the court issues so i wouldnt touch him.

I could actually see Rose being just as good or better than Beasley. And if I had the first pick and needed a guard, I'd take him. If I already had a great point guard, Beasley would be a nice addition as well.

good logic, but i'm pretty sure that no NBA team cares about off court issues....this years MVP has had a few, and he is still a great player. mayo is no worse a player because of what he did off the court and GM's really don't care thats why i don't watch the NBA

I'm a huge Knicks fan myself and enduring the Thomas era has really placed the Knicks behind the 8 ball to say the least huh? think about it this way, Rose could be the QB under D'Antoni offense like Nash was in Phoenix....but remember this as well, the Knicks are in need of so much that even getting Rose or Beasley isn't going to improve them that fast imo, but would be a huge jump

Yeah, well the sixers are....oh god who are we kidding, the bulls are too damn frugal and slow, and they screwed up the following in order:

1.) Trading for Pau Gasol 2.) Trading for Kobe Bryant 3.) Aquiring Mike D'Antoni I'm so happy Ben Gordon turned down the extension last summer and if the Bulls give him that same extension offer, im gonna be PISSED. Same goes for Luol Deng, who's better than Gordon and has length and size, but he turned down 55 million cuz he thinks he deserves the max. What a load of #$*@!!! Yeah, Paxson and Reinsdorf could have gotten him for 20 million over 4 years and brought real excitement back to Chicago, but nope...they sat on their tails and watched him to NY. Cant hate...NY did what Chicago didnt. That doesnt mean i like the Knicks...far from it. The only blue and orange i like are the bears and they're falling towards a dismal state as well. Go Cubbies!!! <--Who are we kidding (damn that curse to hell!!!)

The problem with Isiah, I believe and I have not heard many comments on, is that his "core" of players come from the city of Chicago. No, I'm not bashing the city of Chicago. It's just that the guys Isiah grew up with guys like Mark Aguirre and Terry Cummings, two beasts who played as if the game was their life. I think Isiah felt that Jamal Crawford, Eddy Curry, Quentin Richardson, all from Chicago, would be the same way. They're not. They're lazy (Curry), out of shape (Curry and Q) and have little basketball IQ (Crawford). On paper, the Knicks look immensely talented, much moreso than when Isiah first got there. However, you can't coach heart and these guys just tuned him out. There is a lot of talent on that roster. Let's just hope it works for the best. My nightmare is seeing the Heat get Michael Beasley. Beasley, Shawn Marion, Alonzo Mourning, Dwyane Wade and Dorelle Wright is a really good starting five. All these years, later, and I still hate that Pat Riley, quit.

I have a problem with brook lopez going in the top 10 never mind the top 3 there is no way. Lopez is a good college player and only good not great. Where Love is a great college player and there is way more up side with his size. Lopez will get tossed around like Manute Bowl.

D'Antoni may be shaking his head now. He is going into a mess. The players are underachievers, their salary cap is a disaster and the people and press of NY are rightfully going to be impatient. Chicago has a good young core, they are one year removed from a playoff run and rid of a malcontent in Wallace. Oh yeah...They have the number one pick in the draft too. If it was rigged, and I'm not saying it was not, NY would have gotten the number 1 and Chicago would have gotten the 2. The league needs the Knicks to be strong. Thats why they rigged it in 1985 to give them Ewing. Same reason they rigged it to send Shaq to Orlando and Duncan to San Antonio.

As a Bull's fan, I have a Bull's tattoo on my right arm and my oldest son is Jordan Michael, I am torn between Rose and Beasley. It's tough to pass up on a 20 point/10 rebound guy when you have so little inside scoring. At the same time Beasley tends to fall in love with the 15 footer and Chris Paul showed what a dominant point guard can do for a team. I would likely lean towards Rose and hope that Thomas and Noah improve next season. Even though neither one has any offensive skills. It would be a reach, but they might be able to trade Hinrich and Thomas for a serviceable big guy and a bag of balls. I am not quite ready to cut bait on Thomas yet. By the way, Knicks fans that are surprised by Isaiah Thomas being such a disaster need to look at his track record. Everywhere he has been in his career he has left under bad circumstances. Pistons: Persona Non Gratta for a long time. Personal problems with the owner. Allegedly slept with a teammates wife. Toronto Raptors: After a solid start he went down hill fast and was fired by the new ownership group for irreconsileable differences. CBA: Bought the league and helped to grow it until he was offered the job as coach of the Pacers. Rules prohibited him from owning the league and coaching in the NBA so he shut down operations, leaving hundreds of people unemployed and team owners owing people for prepaid tickets. Pacers: Did a decent job of coaching but could not co-exist with GM Larry Bird and caused a huge rift in the organization. Knicks: Turned the team into a laughing stock. He was actually worse GM than Matt Millen.

This is not entirely, true. In Toronto, he drafted a foundation for that team: Tracy McGrady, Marcus Camby and Damon Stoudamire. That team also went to the playoffs and got swept by the Knicks. New ownership came in and got rid of him. Happens in all organizations but was unjustly fired.

Pacers-Was hired after the team went to the NBA Finals. They also got rid of seven players. Isiah took the team to the playoffs all three seasons. They went from a 500 team, expected, to a team that was 2 games out from winning the division. His reward? Getting fired. The Knicks are much more talented now than before Isiah got there. As for salary cap mess, the Knicks have not been under the cap since they signed Allan Houston and Chris Childs almost 11 years ago. Isiah was not going to change that. NY won't wait. The problem with this Knicks team is that they are HEARTLESS and IMMATURE. They also made the playoffs under Isiah but most NY fans will ignore that. As for the CBA, they knew the NBA was no longer going to support them and looked to Isiah as a saviour. They thought his NBA contacts would somehow prevail knowing full well the NBA was starting the NBDL. You think the NBA was going to support two leagues? Never. Look what they did to the WBL once they started the WNBA. They strong-armed the WBL and their partners. WBL folded. Same with the CBA. I think Isiah is smart, has a keen eye for talent. However, NY did not work out. That's his real failure. I don't believe he failed in Indy or Toronto: an expansion team in the playoffs two years after taking them over.

You are correct about Toronto. He did make some good picks. He inherited a decent Indiana team and did a reasonable job coaching them. As far as the Knicks, he was the one who made trades for a bunch of big money guys that are largely underachievers. He assembled a group of Heartless and Immature guys. He was a winner on the court. No doubt, and that was something he was able to use to get across to the players in Indiana with a relatively veteran group. However, he can't seem to make that work for him now. The history you will see in all of this is he is a bad guy. I have met him on several occasions and know enough people that dealt with him on a regular basis to know that he is an a**hole. I think his recent actions in NY have helped to prove that out.

Oh, I won't disagree about Isiah the person. I mean, just ask Adrian Dantley.

My Bricks need a lot of help. I'm still bitter about Riles quitting and then having Cablevision get rid of Ernie Grunfeld and Dave Checketts. Aarrggh. Just once, once, I would like to know the feeling of being a fan of an NBA Champ. At least you had your Bulls. BTW, Patrick Ewing still wants to know why Scottie pushed him after dunking on him.

    • Day 12: Same as last couple days, but focus was on recentering aspect of flow. When I recenter earlier I make decent contact most swings but if I recenter late or not at all it’s a roll of the dice.
    • A couple of things.  Some of the clubs in your bag should be dropped immediately.  A 2-iron for example with what obviously seems to be a lower swing speed or possibly not great swing yet is a definite no-no.  To be hitting that 120-140 yards, which I assume includes run, is a sign that you are not getting the ball airborne at the correct angle to maximise distance.  The reason your 3 and 5 hybrid are going the same distance is that your launch angle is better with the 5.  Loft is your friend. Ideally I would suggest going to a golf or sporting store where you can hit golf balls on a simulator without being disturbed to understand your club carry distances and hopefully swing speed.  With that information we can definitely guide you better.
    • Let us be clear, unless you have proof of cheating, you just sound like a case of sour grapes.  In our club we have a guy who won club titles for many years.  Yes, he was a low single digit handicapper, but there have been quite a few others who played at his level.  Yet his mental strength and experience helped him win in many years when he shouldn't have.  Did he sandbag.  DEFINITELY NOT.  Did he just minimize his mistakes and pull out shots as and when needed.  Definitely.
    • Day 111 - Worked on my grip and higher hands in the backswing. Full swings with the PRGR.
    • First off please forgive me if this is not a proper post or not in the proper location, still learning the ropes around here. Second, it's important that I mention I am very new to the game with only about 10 rounds of golf under my belt, most being 9 holes. Only this year have I started playing 18. That being said, I am hooked, love the game and am very eager to learn and improve. To give you an idea of my skill, the last 2 18 rounds I played were 110 and 105. Not great at all, however I am slowly improving as I learn. Had been having bad slicing issues with the driver and hybrids but after playing some more and hitting the range, I've been able to improve on that quite a bit and have been hitting more straight on average. Irons have always come easier to me as far as hitting straight for some reason. Wedges have needed a lot of improvement, but I practice chipping about 20-30 mins about 3-5 times a week and that's helped a lot. Today I went to the range and started to note down some distance data, mind you I am averaging the distances based off my best guess compared to the distance markers on the range. I do not currently own a range finder or tracker. From reading some similar posts I do understand that filling gaps is ideal, but I am having a some issues figuring out those gaps and understanding which clubs to keep and remove as some gaps are minimal between clubs. Below is an image of the chart I put together showing the clubs and average distances I've been hitting and power applied. For some reason I am hitting my hybrids around the same distances and I am not sure why. Wondering if one of them should be removed. I didn't notice a huge loft difference either. The irons I have are hand me downs from my grandfather and after playing with them a bit, I feel like they're just not giving me what could potentially be there. The feel is a bit hard/harsh and underwhelming if that makes sense and I can't seem to get decent distances from them. Wondering if I should be looking to invest in some more updated irons and if those should be muscle backs or cavity backs? My knowledge here is minimal. I have never played with modern fairway woods, only the classic clubs that are actually wood and much smaller than modern clubs. I recently removed the 4 and 5 woods from my bag as I was never using them and I don't hit them very well or very far. Wondering if I should look into some more modern fairway wood options? I appreciate any feedback or advice anyone is willing to give, please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am eager to learn! Thank you.
