Anyone catch Nick Faldo drop the S-bomb on the Congressional telecast today.

I was on my laptop half watching and heard it. "Huh?"

I grabbed the Tivo controller and confirmed I heard it right. None of the other commentators acknowledged it.

He later apologized using "a word he shouldn't have". Nobody commented on that either.

All I have to say is, WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN?!?!?!

So today is Thursday, weren't the kids in school. And if they weren't, they must have been hardcore young golfers to have been watching. If that's the case I'm sure they have heard much worse on the course. I KNOW they hear and say worse in school. I love when Tiger drops the GD bomb on TV! But only because it shows a passion for the game.

Hilarious! i thought i heard that too, but I was only half-listening. After the fact I thought I misheard him and he was saying something different.

The 's-word' is allowed on TV as the FCC considers a random use of it a 'fleeting expletive'.

Yeah, I heard it. It sounded like he caught himself in the middle of the word, but it was too late.

He also apologized later in the telecast. Regrettable, but likely not even in the top 5 worst things the kids heard today. EDIT: My favorite golfer's vocalization so far this season came from Morgan Pressel. She hit a so-so shot and she screamed out "good- NESS GRA-cious". It made me laugh out loud. Not "f---" or "s---". Not "crap" or "dammit". Not even "poop". But "goodness gracious" . It made more of an impact than any expletive could have. I guess because it was such a strong contrast to what most players (ahem...Cristie Kerr) scream out. Dirty words don't bother me at all, but "goodness gracious" just seemed . . . classy . Well done Morgan.

What planet/country you from Stacy? It is the middle of the summer. Kids are out.

Sorry, if you couldn't tell but tongue was firmly planted in cheek . As the late, great George Carlin said, "F*** the children. 'He didn't just say F*** the children, did he?' Yes I did! F*** the children!"

Good for faldo.. keepin us on our toes..

But i must ask, who decided that the s word was bad word to say? what differs it from saying, "crap"?

I have no issues with players saying it.. if they are into it enough to clurt stuff out..thats their right.

adn who can honestly say that when speaking publically or to a superior, you havent said something you shouldnt have?

Yeah my bad, I don't have kids so I don't keep up with that....lol. And I'm right with you with the tongue in cheek. I cuss like a sailor on the course. And love it when the old codgers at my course do too. I think it's cause their wives won't let them cuss at home.

Well, like I said, stuff like that doesn't bother me. But the reason it matters is because talking

is his job. It's sorta like the fry cook at Micky D's not washing his hands after using the can one time. It's probably not gonna hurt anyone, but it just ain't right.

For you Big Break watchers I couldn't help laugh out loud when the young girl (name escapes me) would say, "Oh sugar!"

She's living on the edge, that one.

haha, i see where your coming from now.

I can't remember the exact sentence, but I do remember it was right after DJ Trahan hit an approach shot that he was visibly upset about. Flipped his club at his bag and made his caddy flinch. Then the ball lands within 15 ft.

Faldo and the others couldn't believe he was upset and Faldo let it slip out. Edit: Something like, "He shouldn't worry about that shit" or "You shouldn't be bothered by shit." Damn, I'm going to hell...

Yeah - I heard that and did a mental double-take... Funny as heck to me, it just came out so fluidly - like he was just shootin' the breeze at a bar with his buds.

    • I honestly believe if they play longer tees by 300-400 yards, closer to or over 7,000 yards, more rough, tougher greens, women's golf will become much more gripping.  BTW, if it weren't for Scottie killing it right now, men's golf isn't exactly compelling.
    • Day 542, April 26, 2024 A lesson no-show, no-called (he had the wrong time even though the last text was confirming the time… 😛), so I used 45 minutes or so of that time to get some good work in.
    • Yeah, that. It stands out… because it's so rare. And interest in Caitlin Clark will likely result in a very small bump to the WNBA or something… and then it will go back down to very low viewership numbers. Like it's always had. A small portion, yep. It doesn't help that she lost, either. Girls often don't even want to watch women playing sports. My daughter golfs… I watch more LPGA Tour golf than she does, and it's not even close. I watch more LPGA Tour golf than PGA Tour golf, even. She watches very little of either. It's just the way it is. Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle, but… how do you break it? If you invest a ton of money into broadcasting an LPGA Tour event, the same coverage you'd spend on a men's event… you'll lose a ton of money. It'd take decades to build up the interest. Even with interest in the PGA Tour declining.
    • Oh yea, now I remember reading about you on TMZ!
