Southern California weather has been in the high 50's/low 60's and I think that's chilly for me :[
I have a few friends in Chicago who laugh at me for being weather-spoiled. My grandma lives in Arizona and the weather is high 60's so that would be a welcome change for you.

yes ma'am, you hit the nail on the head with that one. I'm hoping that I get this new job which involves a lot of travel so that I can to some warmer weather and get a few holes in. I've got a few friends that live in AZ and they love it. Good luck with the move.

I live in Cincinnati and it's been cold (although we have played almost every weekend this late fall/early winter). My mother lives in SC (near Augusta, GA) and likes to call and gloat about the weather there frequently.

I hear ya. Winter is cool for snowmobiling and skiing, but it sure sucks not being able to play golf. Hopefully in about 2 1/2 months the golf courses around here will be open.
Last weekend I was snowmobiling in NE Wisconsin and we rode by a few golf courses. For most of my life, snowmobiling has been my greatlest passion in life, but after riding by those golf courses, all I could think about was how much Im looking foreward to spring and the start of the golf season.

Know what you mean, wife is pregnant and on bed rest this winter so no trips up north sledding (usually 4-5 times a winter and raced sno-x and cross country for 3 years). Now all I can think about is retiring (I'm 33) and moving to a warm, gated golf cart community on a golf course with a nice bar!!!

I'm starting to hate Illinois weather! Only downside is I'd have to work year round instead of 9 -10 months.

Cold down south here around Peoria too. Too cold to play anyway. Have to load up the skis and drive around like I'm going to the slopes! Poor Seattle boy stuck in Central Illinois for awhile...dreamin.

We did spend Christmas out in the tidewater area in Virginia. Snuck into and caught a window of warmth! Got in two good rounds while there. Lucky me!

I hear ya. I used to love winter because it was snowmobile time, but in recent years Ive kind of lost interest in snowmobiling.

Snowmobiling has gotten to be so expensive (a decent new sleds nowdays will cost you $8,000-$12,000, a decent snowmobile suit will easily cost $500 and even helmets are at least $200) and with only being able to ride 3 months out of the year, it makes it difficult to stay interested. Im not sure that Id go so far as to move to a warmer climate. I cant really handle hot, humid weather; but spring could come early and it would definetly be OK with me.

OK, right now here in NH it's 10 with a wind chill of -15 (those are all Fahrenheit numbers guys ... don't even want to know what the Celsius conversion is ...) I would kill for even 40 right now ... so, yeah, whatever ...

We are actually being warned that we could frostbite our lungs if we breathe the outside air for too long ...

    • after some years experimenting around, I've settled on a mixed bag of mostly Pat Simmons vintage Tiger Sharks (the ones with the blue enamal on back of the clubheads): 3 thru 9 iron, + 3 wedges (PW, sand, chipper). Those super heavy clubheads really help me get my swing down and thru the ball. Also I carry an old Taylor 18-degree rescue club, 17-degree and 14 degree ImagineGolf metalwoods, and the famous Pat Simmons "alien" 1-iron. Finally a real brick-on-a-stick, the big-headed Bettinardi Ben Hogan model putter which is excellent for taking the break out of short putts and getting the ball hole high on long ones. Wait....is that 15 clubs? Oh well....
    • this topic brought to mind one my favorite golf-spectator memories. Back when, living in Santa Barbara CA, parked in my yellow cab just behind the 10th tee  (c. 380 yard par 4) at SB Muni golf course while eating lunch. A twosome comes by, and first up is this fat little mexican guy who takes a kinda squirelly practice swing, then addresses the ball and bashes a long, high, perfectly straight drive up to w/in about 5 yards of the green. Other guy is dressed to the 9's, pulls out what looks like a $300 driver....and hits a maybe 150-yard pop fly. Slams clubhead to the ground and yells, "it's fat! It's fat! Everything is fat today!!"  And that's how I learned what a "fat" shot is.
    • day 57. Technique practice in the net. Really trying to slow down.
    • It may not be surprising that in the previous 7,064 posts, this particular point has been discussed. To which I will counter: If we're talking about results, why only the majors? Unless you know something that I don't, neither of us are in any position to judge whether Woods or Nicklaus lived their overall life better, not that such a thing is even objectively measurable, nor is it relevant to the discussion.
    • As we've had to tell other people, the topic is which is the better GOLFER, not human being.
