So I'm looking to buy a set of Ping G10 irons, and today I went to range to compare the ZZ-65 shaft and the AWT. The end result? I liked the AWT better, although the ZZ65 shaft was on a set of i15s. I felt like they were just too light, and I couldn't get a feel for the weight. I actually ballooned the ball with the ZZ65 to my surprise, thinking they would have a lower trajectory for me compared to the AWT shaft. The AWT shaft I tried with the G15s, and I liked them a lot. The trajectory was nice and high, but not too high.
Currently I'm playing a set of Snake Eye Viper irons with standard True Temper "Steel" irons (regular builder shafts). To my surprise, I found the specs to this shaft to have a high kick point promoting a lower trajectory. I hit the irons great, nice trajectory, even a little high maybe, although they are regular flex. I should be using a stiff flex according to my fitting. I like the lighter shaft of the AWT, but I was also looking into the Dynamic Gold SL shafts as well.
Any thoughts or suggestions??? I'm a little hesitant going with the AWT because I think it has a lower kick point, promoting a higher ball flight. I'm happy with my ball flight now, and I have no trouble getting my 3 iron up in the air also.
