I'd really appreciate any help here. I'm attempting to choose a bag for someone else and am unsure of what type to go with. Their membership this year includes a power cart, however, if I get a cart bag and future years they don't have the powercart, I'm assuming the bag will be useless? Is a carry/stand bag ok for a powercart? I obviously know nothing about golf. Would also like some recommendations if anyone has any. Thanks for any help.

I'm partial to the Ogio bags. They make a number of lightweight, comfortable, fully-featured stand bags in a bunch of colors.

I prefer to walk, and even golfers that have a cart pass will often carry their bag from the car to the clubhouse, or want to stand it up easily in their home, beside the practice putting green, at the practice range, etc. A stand bag gives you options, while a cart bag is pretty much best suited for use on a cart only. Cart bags do include more storage, though.

If you're really unsure, perhaps a gift certificate to Dick's or somewhere might be in order, and they can choose their own.

If carting is to be done often, that rules out most Sun Mountains. I liked the design of Ogio bags (not necessarily the colour schemes) and they'd fit on a cart much better. If they offered different feet (i.e. more surface area to prevent digging into the turf) I'd have gone that route.

I lke the gift certificate idea. Golf bags are like a good all weather jacket. The position and style of the pockets is important. I can get used to any bag, but some set ups that just don't work for me. If there's no room for a full set of irons or if I can't access the pockets while walking, it's off.

I have the ogio grom golf bag right now. plan on getting the ogio edge bag soon. having different brands of clubs, I went with a ogio. and their bags are well built. I agree with the color schemes are a little out there, but they do look cool.

ok, I would say go with a stand bag. it works great with everything.....walking, push cart, and powered cart.

if this is no surprise to the person you are buying the bag for, you could just take him to a local golf shop and allow him to choose one himself. or the gift card idea iacas has.

not trying to be rude, but what is the spending limit? could help with deciding.

golf is a lot like life. the more you enjoy it, the better off you are. a3_biggrin.gif

    • Went to a PING fitting day today. Going to be ordering a G430 Max 3w with a 75g x-stiff shaft at 5w length and a 3h. I forget what my fitter did with the shaft on that but she told me she’s going to email the club the specs of everything. The 3w combination we found pretty quickly. As for the hybrid, we tried a bunch of different head and shaft combinations for that distance with mixed results. Then she handed me the 3h and I took three swings with it and knew it was the one.
    • Yeah, this isn't sandbagging. It's outright cheating. He should be banned.
    • That’s quite a generalization. It’s clear that you don’t like water but there are plenty of us that drink it just fine. My daily intake is usually about 20oz of black coffee, 16oz of soda, 8oz of milk mixed into a protein shake, and anywhere between 30-60oz of water. It doesn’t even need to be cold and I kind of prefer it closer to room temperature than cold. I quite like the taste of tap water, with sole exception being the tap water at Magic Kingdom (it’s terrible). I can’t stand when people bring me tap water with a lemon wedge in it. I didn’t ask for lemon in my water.
    • This is the part I don’t get. He’s not even kind of sandbagging, he’s blatantly doing it and submitting scores that are verified to be incorrect. How he’s not banned from competition is beyond me.
    • He's right in what he's saying.I also have done this experiment with a golf shaft swinging with one arm at a time.one arm at a time is for me very fast but both hands together are very slow ..I got my 17 year old son to do this experiment and he swung very fast with either hand and he swung very fast with both hands together..My conclusion up to now is ; I'm not using my wrists properly but I not a 100 percent sure just yet..I will keep trying to fathom this out .I'm a 12 handicap and my son is 3.9 at Westlancs..
