RockBottomGolf has the new R7 irons (steel shaft) on sale for $500! These irons just came out a few months ago, and retail for $700.

I ordered my set from them on Monday afternoon, and received them Wednesday, and they were just as advertised, brand new, the clubs I wanted at a price I couldn't believe. They are also currently running a free 2 day shipping promotion, which makes the deal even better.

I thought Taylor Made and other big companies didn't allow their clubs to be discounted this greatly (and this quickly), not sure how they are able to sell them at this price but I'm not complaining. RBG isn't even trying to hide the fact that they're discounting them, i originally saw it on a google ad when searching for "Taylor Made R7 Irons", it was the first ad on the page.

Here's the link:
http://store.rockbottomgolf.com/07tay07r7irmrh.html

Let me know what you think of the deal, at least it was good enough to convince my wife that I couldn't pass it up!

Maybe it's because these are not the TP version which are forged. But for the price, they're a good deal...

I don't mean to p!ss on your parade, but I would definitely take those clubs to an authorized retailer and compare them with the real things. Also, the 5-iron should have a serial number etched into the hozel. Call TaylorMade and check that number out. Every TaylorMade authorized dealer has been selling all the new r7 items at the same pricees. I checked TaylorMade's website and Rockbottom is not an authorized dealer. I have been researching this a lot lately. I've been in the market for the new r7 draw driver which I just purchased from Golfsmith. I have also contacted TaylorMade numerous times regarding counterfeit clubs. According to them there are more counterfeit out there than you would think. It is really easy to get these clubs shipped from China. I know. I checked into that as well. Just visit tradekey.com. I've even had email discussions with suppliers trying to unload counterfeit clubs.

Here is a link every golfer should read regarding counterfeit clubs.

Again, I'm not saying your clubs are fake but the price you got them for should be a red flag. Just check them out to make sure. HTH

No, because TM Japan has the forged models available for the domestic market there. It's just that TM USA doesn't market the new TP forged irons here (I think due to the cost). Just like how Mizuno has some models which do not make it to "our side" of the pond, but just stay as "domestic" models there. The new forged TM R7 irons of TM Japan do not have that black stuff that's on the cavity of the model available here.

I guess that's what's available here but you can log onto Ebay and type in "TaylorMade Japan" & the pix for the iron(s) s/b available. I'd put one here, but for some reason I couldn't drag the pix to this site...

I checked out my clubs and they seem to be non-counterfeits to me...the 7 iron has a serial number on it, right on the hosel near the word TaylorMade. Granted TaylorMade's website said it should be on the 5 iron, but maybe that has changed. Everything else also seemed to be as I expected, the grips, shafts, all the way down to the taylor made upc symbol on one of the clubs, which was just like other stickers that i've gotten off of taylor made clubs bought from golfsmith.

I'm heading to a local reputable golf shop this weekend, so I'll be sure to inspect their R7 irons to make sure they are the same as mine, including the serial number on the 7 iron.

I've also done some more research on the web and found some other low prices that seem to be lower than what I would think taylormade would allow:

Golfdom: $612.50 http://www.golfdomgolf.com/products2...OLF&dept;=CLUBS

Click and save golf: $649
http://clickandsavegolf.stores.yahoo...20tamar7i.html

I don't know much about click and save golf, but i've been in golfdom's retail stores and know they are selling real clubs, so i'm not sure what to think of their low price too!

Rockbottom can sell for this cheap BECAUSE they are not a TM dealer. They have no contract with TM and are thus not bound to TM's pricing policies. Rockbottom buys overstock from other shops or the remaining stock from shops going out of business. Then they turn around to sell them on their website.

Rockbottom has been around for a while (on ebay since 98) and they definitely have a good reputation online.

As always, it's buyer beware, but no need to panic just because of some low prices.

Currently thinking of getting me a set of TM R7's myself. Anyone have any experience with these clubs?

I live in Norway and I'm a lefty, so demo clubs are hard to find. tgw.com gives you the opportunity to "customize" your clubs online. Anyone have any views on how the proprietary T-Step shaft is compared to TT Dynamic Gold?

Would also appreciate if anyone has any feedback on the stock grips provided with these clubs.

I have TM R7XD irons and love them. They are magic!! The mass is so great and spread out along the bottom of the club that the ball just jumps into the air. Even your misshits turn out pretty good. They have a really thick top line so if you are used to a blade type club, they might not be for you.

Shigeki, I'm a little late to the party, but I just checked in on this thread, and must agree with you that the R7 forged is an absolutely incredible iron. One of my customers bought a set as a backup for trips, and I'm currently in heavy negotiations with him to get them in my possession. They are a forged players cavity back iron with a consistent cavity much like an updated version of the venerable TaylorMade 300's. They have a small blade size and very thin top line. They feel exceptionally solid at impact, look absolutely perfect at address, and perform exceptionally well. They're semi-difficult to find, but I've got to say, these irons blow away anything TaylorMade has out in the US now.

Here is a link every golfer should read regarding counterfeit clubs.

That was a great read. My favorite part...

Liou stopped during the factory tour and lingered over one club head. It was the mold for something called a Power 420. The model that Liou sells to Kmart is called the Super 420, which is also made at the Deson factory. The lettering, size and scoring on both club faces were identical. Liou called over the president of Deson, a man named Su Hiao, and in a moment rich with irony, complained that the Power 420 appeared to be a direct knockoff of, and confusingly similar to, the Super 420 (which is a knockoff of TaylorMade's 300 Series drivers).

I've used Rockbottom quite a few times in the past. Never had a problem with them.

As I said, i own the R7 XD irons and love them. I hit a few buckets with both the new R7s and the R7 TPs. Did not like the TPs, but I am used to the thicker more forgiving clubs. The R7s were ok, I didn't like them as much as mine. I have not seen those R7 forged. They are not the same as the TP but sure look nice.
