Going after irons

Hey all,

After your help with the driver I am back to get some insight and help with my upgrade of my irons.

I hit the following really pretty well:

Wilson Staff half & half Di11

Cobra S3 combo

Nike Mach Speed graphite

I tried the steel shafts and not so good...

So, what do you think of the different irons? one set better than another and for what reason?

I have the 3 through Sand Wedge on the Technique RM880's and they are "stiff" steel shafts. I hit em about 150yds. ... fairly straight.

What do I get?   3-PW, 4-AW, 4-GW, 4-PW, 4-SW

Any help is appreciated.

The Musketeer looks like a blade. I don't hit those so well. I have a set and...well...

Ok. so what are the "last year's" designation for these sets? I am not able to purchase at the 700 - 900 price point. :(

So I will look at last year's model if it exists.

Ok. I purchased the Adams A3OS iron set. I just could not come up with the 400.00 at this time for any of the other iron sets. I will let you know how they are working.

I got the graphite "regular" shafts and yes I got the hybrids. For your iron set mix, you might have a clubfitter do a "gap analysis" on you. The distance gap is where an iron gains you no more yardage than the next-higher-numbered iron.

Most golfers have a point in their iron at which two irons go about the same distance. For example, if the fitter finds you don't hit your 4i any farther than your 5i, you might drop the 3i and 4i in favor of a 3H and 4H.

Or, some people might add a 5W and a 7W instead of the hybrids.

Many iron "combo" models allow you to plug in iron-replacement hybrids in place of the longer irons, depending on where your gap occurs.

I received the A3OS iron set today. I took the 7 iron and the 5 hybrid out for a spin. I hit them well. Plenty of height, straight as an arrow going down range, and man did it feel good.
