Hey gang, my first post.  Looks like a great site you have hear.

A couple questions for you:

- I am just getting back into golf (high handicapper) and I am looking to buy clubs.  My budget for irons is around $400.  Any recommendations would be great.  I found burner 2.0's for 399 but I am not finding much for reviews.

- Do any of the bigger box stores allow you to check clubs out to try at the actual driving range?  Not sure what good hitting into a net does for you at the store.   Any other ideas to get an accurate idea on clubs and how they are fitting you, how well you swing them?  I know some stores have simulators, not sure how accurate they are.

Thanks for your help.

I know allot of the bigger stores will allow you to use them at the in store simulators, but I don't know about taking them out to a driving range or anything like that. If you can locate a Demo Day thats happening at a club or range near you that would probably work good.

I have noticed that usually in the spring you can find some pretty good deals at some of the major retail stores like Golftown.

I would recommend going to the store and actually trying some out before buying though, and possibly even getting somewhat of a fitting to ensure you get golf clubs with the proper shaft length, flex and club head lie. It's not as difficult as most people think and will absolutely help.

Hope this helps you

I got a chance to hit goldsmith tonight and I did swing a few.

Ping G15's

Callaway X-20

TM rocketballs

TM burner 2.0

Titleist AP1 712

Unfortunately, I loved the Titleist AP1 712.  But that blows my budget out of the water.  The TM burner 2.0's were also very nice and much more affordable.

Still trying to decide.  Can I put the Titleist on layaway somewhere?  : )
