Their ads claim anyone with 60+ and up can get the most out of them, but I'm not sure if thats just because it's thier only line of balls(for now on the website), and they are looking to make a buck. But Golf Magazine has them going farther than any ball with a 90MPH swing speed. I often hear, though that tour balls are only for those who have the swing speed 100+, etc.

All comments and insights appreciated.

good article in GOLF magazine in February issue (maybe on web) about golf ball selection. Suggests maybe a higher handicapper can still benefit by these high spin balls, they are hitting less greens and struggle more to put spin on ball, so easier spining balls will help greenside play. Problem is, if you slice or hook as well, these balls will do that more. Also, lots of money for those balls, so if you're a higher handicapper and loose balls, well it gets expensive.

bottom line... I think they DO have their merits and can help.

Also, Taylor made has just introduced the Burner TP ball and the Burner ball, as well as taking over the Noodle line, so the website is simply not updated. I have seen the new Burner and Burner TP balls in stores.

I also have a suspicion that these Burner TP's are the same as the Maxfli Fire Tour, and the Burner is the Maxfli Fire... anyone else see the similarities in product description and market? The Maxfli's Fires are all super cheap right now too, maybe because Taylormade is switching them over to the Burner line?

I have no problems hitting the ball straight, its distance where I lack. I was just wondering if anyone thought my swing speed could actually compress this thing.

nykfan4life,

If it's distance you seek, high end balls aren't what you need. At your swing speed, low compression is the key to getting the most distance you can. Look to 50 compression balls like the Wilson 50, Bridgestone E6, and Precept iQ180. Most premium balls tend to be in the 70-90 range. Compressing the golf ball allows for club head energy to be transferred efficiently into the ball to "activate" the core. If you can't compress a ball, you won't get the most energy input into it.

Taylormade red or black are long balls. But if you are looking for distance try the new noodle ball. I believe it has added 10 yards to my drives. I know it is early in the season but it seems like ihave been hitting mid season drives with them. Hope this helps.

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
