Hi, Im a little confused.  My son was testing some drivers.  He is 14 small (5'1") and has an 85 mph driver swing speed with a smooth transition.  His favorite drivers were epic flash and titelist ts2.  In both drivers the regular shafts were 5 yards longer but his dispersion was 25 yd wide.  With a couple different  stiff shafts, while he was 5 yd shorter, his dispersion was only 10 yd wide. Everything I have read says regular shaft but it seams 5 yards to stay out of the rough or any trees seems like a good tradeoff.  Am I missing anything? (Test was 20 balls with each)

I would take the tighter dispersion over 5 yards myself. The stiff shaft is possibly  gonna fit him better as his speed increases over the next few years.
Which one did your son prefer? That’s the one I would get.

Also, my friend who played in the European Tour for 10 years was of the opinion that heavier and stiffer was better as a rule. He put me in an Extra Stiff driver shaft ( swing speed only 98-100mph) and it helped my shape more than anything else. I could take aim down the left and it would move only left to right. I could really get after it confident I wasn’t gonna hook it left

As long as he can square the club face at impact and he gets enough height with the driver, the stiffer shaft will not be an issue. A more flexible shaft allows the head to close and add loft easier, while the stiffer shaft requires the player to do those things. Assuming everything else is equal with the shaft specs, going stiffer will not hurt him.

What loft was he using on those heads?  The Flash is a low spin head, I forget what the TS2 is.  With an 85 mph clubhead speed I’d be as concerned about the head as I am the shaft.  The Flash also has the weights, how are those set up?

FWIW my son is also small... older than your son but he is 5’even and 80lbs.  He hits a Ping G SFT 12 degree with a senior shaft.  Hits it about 225 yards with a tight little draw.  He has always had a draw anyway.

I didn’t mind getting him the SFT because he plays it at full length and the SFT feature would enable him hitting a draw with a shaft that’s too long so he would get some distance.
