I'm relatively new to the game but getting better (slowly). I recently borrowed a rescue wood from a friend and really enjoyed hitting it so figured i'd go out and buy one. (he has the TM Burner graphite stiff shaft)

Here's the question- which is the best/most forgiving rescue wood out there?

Due to excellent reviews I have been looking at the Cleveland Halo (22degree loft) which is also my budget option (as it's quite cheap since the hi-bore came out), or the Taylormade Rescue Burner (22 degree loft) as my option to match the rest of my bag (as i have an R7 425 and RAC HT irons).

Any views on these clubs or others that are better?

I have the Taylor 25 degree and really like it. Easy to swing with solid contact. Tried the Halo and did not like it even though I had a Cleveland driver. It seemed a bit awkward for me. Swing did not feel right and I could never get that solid hit feel..

I've played both and I personally wasn't a huge fan of the Halo...I just didn't ever hit a shot that I thought was just great, but my friend has one and loves his...on the other hand I loved the burner hybrid. It's depends more on what you think than anything though, opinions tend to vary between different golfers. I would recommend demoing them at a golf store or at a course so see which you prefer before you buy one. Especially since the burner is about twice the price of a halo.
In the bag:

Driver: Tour Burner 9.5* w/ Aldila VS Proto stiff shaft
Woods: Burner 15* 3 Wood w/ Fujikura, stiffHybrid: 503H w/ Aldila NV, stiffIrons: 755 3-9 w/ Project X 5.5 shaftsPitching Wedge: MP-T 47*Gap Wedge: MP-T 51*Sand Wedge: MP-T 56*Putter: Rossa SienaBall: Laddie/Laddie...

I have the HALO's in 2i and 4i and love them, just swing it like a regular iron and your set, good off the tee too, 2i goes about 220m ... by the way does anyone know how to set up the whats in my bag signature with the brand pics, they are cool.

I was thinking of demoing them but nowhere seems to stock the Halo as it's now the Hi-bore (i think). As you say they're half the price so i could get two different lofts instead of the burner - but should i? Or should i just go for one burner- is there a difference in performance/forgiveness?

having looked at this a little more i am now thinking of going for the Cobra Baffler DWS-08. Slightly cheaper than the Burner but more than the Halo's. Luckily i have a registered fitter near-by so i'm going to get myself down there. Have never been fitted for a club before so i'm expecting big results!! :)

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
