What type of shafts would you recommend for irons? TTDG's, Project X's
(?flighted?), or something else? And does a 5.5 shaft play inbetween a reg and stiff flex?

we get a lot of questions like this and there is only one answer: get fitted.
there's only one best shaft for you which is possible different from the best shaft for me.
5.5 = stiff

Wishon 949MC 16.5° <SK Fiber Tour Trac 80 R>

I play a rifle 5.5, Its more towards stiff than regular but it definetely feels softer than a DG S300. I never liked an S300 shaft. Feels like your hitting a rock at impact. If you're looking for something inbetween stiff/reg. Get fitted for a Dynamic Gold R400 shaft, the extra weight will help in that regard.

Agreed with Clubswinger. I have Flighted Rifle 5.5 in my irons and they play slightly softer than DGS300's to me. Proper fitting and demo's are the only way to go....

I would recommend getting fitted...it also depends on what you are looking for in ball flight as evertyhting I have read is that the rifle shafts hit the ball higher then DG but that also depends on how you swing the club...I think a mid handicapper proabably would not notice a big difference between the two shafts as long as you have the correct stiffness...

TEE - XCG6, 13º, Matrix Ozik HD6.1, stiff
Wilson Staff - Ci11, 3-SW, TX Fligthed, stiff

Odyssey - Metal X #7, 35in

Wilson Staff - FG Tour ball

    • You still got to lift your arms. You basically just roll your wrist over in the 1st half of the backswing.
    • Day 288 6-17 Low point control without ball. hit quite a few swing where i was wanting the club to hit the ground.  Added a ball with towel behind it, just to see where im at. Wasn't horrible but need some more work. Pretty much full speed swings.
    • Current state of the program.  I can only do 25-50% swing speed, probably under 50% since I was hitting the ball out to the 150 yard marker (yay!),  to get the arms down and somewhat turn the body through impact. I mean somewhat. Arms down + body turn don't like to mesh at all. Anything faster and the body does stupid uncoordinated stuff. Mostly, I am stuck in the old pattern of staling the turn and flipping at the ball.  So, until I see progress. I am not posting anything here.
    • Thanks for the video! Do you think a ball between the arms type of training aid would get me in a better position? I also have a Tour Striker Swing Trainer (PlaneMate-like contraption) if that could be helpful.
    • There are some little things here and there — the shoulder turn is a bit flat, and the arms move around you a bit too much too. Take a look at this video:
