"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

i find it sad that the prize for a hole in one is a golf simulator worth $55,000. it should be a hole in one gives money to charity.

plus, the guys playing the tavistock have $55,000 in the toll booth compartment in their private jets

How bout the "getter done's" in the pontoon boat on the second hole!!!

For such an exclusive event it came off as "rednecky" to me?

Maybe they were J.B. fans

Fairplay to them for playing the same day as a Tour event - well some of them at least.

It seems to be very exclusive - open to members & their friends/business associates and sponsors. And they are referred to as "patrons" - now who else calls spectators patrons?

Imagine walking the course with no ropes! The security check must be tight. Or at least they know every single person on the course.

Maybe...

Did you see them though, it was the long par 3 second hole, they were off to the side when the first groups came through, then the PBR guzzlers anchored the boat almost in direct line to the hole, if someone would have bladed one it would have knocked one of the few remaining teeth out of someones grill. It was just funny how all the announcers were talking what a hard hole it is, yep just got harder with 6 rednecks in a poonton boat staring you in the face!

tell that to the Walker Cup and World Cup players.

It's no more than a charity friendly, all be it good. Stenson/McDowell vs Cook and Tiger was good though

The Par 3's on that course are just amazing and some of the slopes on the greens are insane.

The second is definitely memorable. Imagine teeing up there after a couple of rusty swings on the first!

Other than (in no particular order) the Walker Cup, Seve Trophy, Royal Trophy, Solheim Cup, Curtis Cup, etc, etc

Tavistock is fun and clearly competitive but it doesn't have any ranking or other international impact. Bragging rights for the winners only - and a lot of loot for charity, which is fine. Young man, I have high hopes for you - you have so much to learn about the game it should keep you out of mischief for the rest of your life...

I was happy to see Charles Howell III play some decent golf both days. It was nothing spectacular, but it was pretty solid. Also, the PGA needs to think about playing a tournament at Isleworth. That was major-type quality, or so it seemed. I haven't seen greens like that since the 2004 U.S. Open.

All in all, this year's Tavistock Cup was fun to watch as always. It's nice to get some golf on Monday and Tuesday. It makes the week more interesting for sure. And it doesn't hurt to have quite a few top-notch golfers involved as well.

Can't disagree with any of that.

Some innovative formats as well; the strokeplay against two opponents at the same time is cracking to watch. I'd love to see a few more unique events like the Tavistock

I don't know where I've been the last year

, but until yesterday I hadn't realized that Charles Howell III went from Callaway equipment to Bridgestone equipment, and that transition could in some way be related to his game being in flux since his win last year. I'm surprized that Bridgestone hasn't done more to market him as being one of their staff players . Their comericals have Fred Couples and Stuart Appleby bombing Bridgestone drives, and Nick Price and Paula Creamer teaching about the Precept balls, but Howell is no where to be seen.
