Just a small brag, i'm really proud of our course. For a long time, we had people that cared...but didn't care enough to really go out and get stuff done. Well, we have a new board president and alot of things are getting done now!

We're just a small 9-hole club, our tee signs are on plywood hanging by PVC pipe (if that paints a great picture I don't knwo what does!). 3 20-year old ball washers w/ towels that have no "cloth" left. Worn down flags, and used-to-be-black flag poles with the paint worn off. A beautiful, but old club house. And a REALLY old raggedy looking cart shed.

Well now, we've painted the cartshed, renovating the 150 year old locker room that nobody uses to a 19th hole hangout. Fresh coat of paint on the clubhouse. Built a new trophy case in the bar. Just ordered new set of flags and flag poles...got 3 fancy new ball washers (holy crap those are expensive...$750 for 3 ball washers? No mounting?!), and just ordered 9 new granite tee signs, all sponsored (my company sponsored the #1 tee!). We have a full calendar of tournaments, and finally got USGA rated. Even have scheduled the local district golf tournament here.

Just refreshing to have life back into a club that seemed to be drifting away.

thats pretty awesome to read... good for you man, it must be a great feeling to know you were part of it all in the begining. I love finding gems up in Maine and NH because its a great course without all of the b/s

that is awesome. quaint, little old courses can be the best because they exude character, even when worn down. DDBowdoin, what the OP's describing is reminding me of Leo J and Nehoiden!
