The vokey spin milled is a great one...I have one and it can really back the ball up. I haven't hit any wedges with the zip grooves yet, so I can't tell you which performs better.

I guess the Spin Milled and the GC Zip's are the most popular.

I find that the spin milled cut my ball up too much, i now prefer the oil-cans.

But, i think my next wedges will be the Taylor Made TP Satins

The Vokey spins more than the CG w/ zip... but the CG's spin pretty good. Also, maybe consider the Callaway Forged w/ mack daddy grooves... never hit one, but I would assume they spin pretty good.

You'll probably get the most spin with and cg zip grooves, vokey spin milled, rac z tp, or callaway md grooves. I've heard that the md grooves rip up balls the worst (initially) and I would put my money on them for most spin but really I think you're talking about very small differences in spin between these. I would check your ball and your technique too. Those are probably more important in creating spin.

the callaways spin really good, but they chew up the ball with the MD grooves.

well I guess that settles that... sounds like they shred 'em up pretty good. I still want to try them one day, but I'm sure I'll stick with cleveland. They really shred balls worse than new vokey sm?

I have used the Vokey Sm, Cleveland CG-12 Zip and Cally mack daddy and all spin great but chew up balls. I am now playing the Ping Tour-W wedges and get the same amount of spin but doesn't shread balls like the others.

    • Our home course would be very interesting.  It is short from the black tees (around 6000 yards) and very few holes are considered not reachable in GIR for golfers who drive max 250 off the tee.  But there are two difficulties.  Only 3 holes don't have an OB though admittedly in some cases it is just behind the green.  The harder part is almost all the fairways slope away on both sides from the centre meaning if you hit a draw or fade, you are likely to wind up at the edge of the fairway or off into the rough if you bounce in the wrong place.
    • I assume the 3 iron in your iron set would do the job.  If you don't have the club, you should be able to buy it as a single club
    • Day 45 (16 Jun 24) -  Happy Father's Day all - got in a few swings with the clubs, focused on alignment for chipping and pitching.  For me if the target it 12noon, I need to have my feet somewhere around 11 for a solid dead on line pitch/chip.  Worked from about 5yds out to 25yds.  Worked through a series of clubs - 54, PW, 8i and 6i - noting flight patterns of each.
