Ok, having watched this event the past few days the final match is a runaway.  Getting to the Finals is a big deal, I think we can agree on that. What bothers me is that Monet Chun is out there by herself.  Looks like mom is there pushing the cart and offers little help.  Baba has a local caddy with course knowledge which is good move!

What I don’t understand is why Big Blue Michigan golf did not have her college coach on the bag? Ok, maybe she wanted a mom/daughter experience or perhaps Chun declined an offer. I’ll never know.

But as appearances go, Chun is out there by herself. She’s good, but perhaps having a coach or a local caddy like Baba has versus a parent on the bag would have been a better move.

But give Baba credit, she has played well and will eventually put this away soon.

Chun got to the finals, where she was outplayed, period. I don't think her choice of caddie hurt her - if anything, a stronger case could be made that having her mom on the bag helped her, as she outperformed expectations and reached the finals.

Yes she was. Good point but in watching Baba’s caddy who was one of 13 local caddies out there I feel that Chun short changed herself with mom on the bag.  Having a caddy local or otherwise like her College Coach may have helped her. Probably still would have lost but perhaps the match would have been closer. Who knows.

Mens Amateur is up next.

    • Well, I am not surprised since the departure of Koepka and Reed.  Also Mickelson taking hiatus from golf hasn't helped any - albeit he is not much of a needle mover these days. Surprising is LIV hasn't offered any contract extension to Bryson as he seems to be the only marquee player they have at the moment.  Oh wait there is Dustin, Sergio, and ???  But these two guys haven't been doing much lately anyway.
    • Day 7, April 15.   I was so excited about the pelvis turn drills that I didn't work on the hip rotation drill from my latest Skillest lesson (oops!).  I worked on that today, using a cereal box.  I also continued to do some pelvis turn drills, in part because I'm doing some of it with all practice balls hit, and I wanted to hit some balls this morning too.
    • I was hoping to find an image of my Edel Putter in my swing thread here. I found the video of the 1st tee shot at Moon Valley from 2015.  Whooo man, that backswing, 🤣 Man, I had faster hips and more mobile hips back then. I could get the hips open prior to impact.
    • Yea, I think it is just human nature. It could be subconscious as well.  The studies on Belief Perseverance, Cognitive Dissonance, Confirmation Bias, Motivated Reasoning are all interesting topics in psychology.  Being that people are probably on a spectrum regarding how susceptible they are to these behaviors; I am not shocked by his response. It helps me cope with this sort of thing as well. I am like; Oh, they can't help it. Honestly, they probably can't with out some sort of major pattern changes in how they process information. I wish, I would be like 80-lbs lighter than I am now! 🤣 I am glad the GEARS avatar doesn't blow up in size to match the person's outline.
