I'm currently in the market for a new putter. I don't want to spend more then 150 (in all liklihood). I've been looking at YES! putters for a while, but I wanted to get some feed back before making a decesion. Does anyone here play with a cleveland putter?

There will be as many recommendations as there are players. So - it's a pointless question. Tour players use all types - so none are better than others.

It's your choice, and there is no possible way that you can be advised. Try some out, ignore the brand and reputation (advertising budget) and see what you like the look and feel of. Anyone who makes a recommendation here will not be helping you.

So many choices....so many classics as well as so much new stuff. I've been out of the market for a while so I'm not a great advisor.

I wound up with my two putters due to their ability to help me with alignment...my nemesis. The PING is so long that you can see if it's square to the line you want very easily. The 2-Ball is so deep that the same thing occurs.

I've tried litterally hundreds of putters over the years.....not owned, just messed around with. Nobody in your foursomes will mind you trying out their flat sticks.....their woods probably not (I'd never ask them, anyway). Roll as many balls as you can with different putters.

Don't say I didn't warn you.

It's started already. You might like to rename the thread - "What putter do you use?" I'm just waiting for smeone to post something like "Scotty Camerons are "the best". The best putter for you might be one you find in a bargain barrel for $5. Make up your own mind!

while the rest of your post was true, this was not. We can give him recommendations on what to look out for. if we give him suggestions he can try those putters out instead of wasting his time with putters that he doesnt even know about because we didnt give him any ideas,

giving him suggestions narrows down his choice.

So true! The best putters are whatever you play the best with.

I love my Scotty and they are some of the most meticulously made putters out there, and the price really reflects this. Best of luck! Picking a flat stick it tough. It is even tougher sticking with one when you are not rolling it well.

I liked both the Ping Redwood and Taylormade Rossa putters. Mainly because of how well I could control the speed, and how well it sat on the ground. It doesn't matter what brand putter you buy as long as it does four things.

1. Rolls true to its line.
2. Sits well on the ground (so you don't duff it)
3. Is easy to square up.
4. Gives accurate distance consitently

If it has none of those qualities for you, then it isn't good for you.

I have to agree that there is no way this thread will help the poster. It wont narrow anything down, it will give him a broad spectrum of options. If thats what you want just look at TGW or any online retailer...

Maybe some refining of the question would help:

What are you using now?
Whats the problem you face (alignment, speed control, direction... etc.)?
What type of putter are you considering?
Blade or mallet?
Whats your putting style?

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
