Order of Tee off

After a matchplay round at the wknd I noticed that I won most if not all holes where I teed off second. It was a win - lose pattThis was cause it was a very windy day on a tree ridden course where the breeze was very unpredictable.
Can someone tell me what is the advantage of teeing off first after you win a hole if it means your the one who tests the conditions for your opponent? Can you pass the buck to you opponent after you win a hole and have them lead the way as I see no advantage in being first off.

im matchplay teeing of first takes a lot of pressure off you dont have any thing to follow and you set the pace. if he is teeing of first after you have won the hole you can make him re hit his shot after you even if he got a hole in one or it was a great shot he hit out of turn

I don't think it is really an advantage at all. Say you tee off first and hit OB... his driver goes right back in the bag and a 5 iron comes out...

On the other hand it can be a positive if you really stick your shot, since the pressure to match you falls right on his shoulders. Personally i would rather hit second because you can use the outcome of the other person's shot as another factor to weight, and because he'll give an idea of how the conditions for that hole are playing.

I think it would largely be based on your game and personality. Some people like to apply the pressure. It you hit it long and straight your opponent then has to step up and may try to overdo it to keep up. At the same time, going second allows you to know exactly what they are facing and like iWalk18 said you if know when they are in trouble it can completely change your approach to the shot.

Last weekend i was playing in a foursome with some mates, on the 14th 3 of us hit the green from our drives on a par 4, wind was seriously with and its easy anyway.
Fourth guy had so much pressure on him, still a nice shot but not on the green.

Ya and if its a tight hole and you split the fairway it puts the pressure on him. Which is the proper mind set to take when you tee off first anyways, forget that, when you tee off in any spot in the order. That said I prefer to hit second most of the time because I prefer to know 100% what I need to do. But I dont dislike going first. Most people get freaked out just on a tight hole, it just magnifies when you put it down the fairway in play.

I have been known to play a safer shot, if I go second and the other guy hits his into the trees, water, rough.....ect.

Whenever I play, it doesn't really matter what the order of the tee off is.. Usuually someone will want to go first, usually someone will want to go last. It's whoever gets up to the tee box first (ready first).

Personally, nothing gets me to screw a hole up faster than by playing it safe. If I have a way in mind that I want to play a hole, then what my opponent does is of no consequence to me. The only time I let my opponent's play dictate mine is when I get behind and need a birdie. I might then play more aggressive and shoot at pins I normally wouldn't.

It is true it is up to the individual. I would warn people again though, not to let their opponent completely dictate your entire round. Play your game and only make slight changes to your gameplan based on how the day is going.
