Good news is there are lots of solid choices.

Looking to update my woods.

Most likely going with 11 degree loft, stiff flex but still lively shaft...desiring a higher ball flight than with my current driver.

Neutral bias.

I'm 6'5" and I've always pretty much added an inch to my woods for best fit.

Checking around for local courses that have the "fitting" set-ups so I can hit many different configurations. The problem I'm encountering is that no single course/shop carries all brands. I'd prefer to hit outdoors so I can best evaluate ball flight.

Gonna have to do some driving around to hit the clubs I narrow it down to. I don't mind investing a little homework because I tend to hang on to clubs for a few years.

Suggestions appreciated.

You have some good choices there. From Personal Experience I've only tried the Ft-5 and the Sasquatch. The Sasquatch doesnt have as much distance but is really forgiving.

The Ft-5 is also an amazing driver and it Makes an amazing sound.

I've played with three drivers: Taylormade, Cobra and Titleist.

The Cobra has 12* and came with the stock shaft. Worked great for me because the loft allowed me to hit the ball extremely high. While I was not particularly long, unlike other mid handicappers, I don't hit the ball 280 , this club allowed me to be in the fairway and control the ball.

As I got better, I switched to a lower lofted club:Titleist 905T. It has a smaller head, 400CCs. With the cash that I saved on the head, I decided to spend a nice chunk of change on the shaft. The shaft was fitted to all the specs of my swing and I had it pured. It's a little shorter than most drivers, 44 3/8 inches. It gives me the best of both worlds; distance and control.

My advice to you is to get the loft that gives you the ideal trajectory, launch angle and spin rate. Combine that with the shaft that is specific to all of your swing: spin, flex, torque and length. Also, get it pured. You will be better off having a driver made to all your specific requirements and needs. The bonus is that it may cost you less or the same as an off the shelf, driver.

I was so close to buying the G10 before I stumbled accross the Superquad discounted.

G10 feels easy to hit, but I feel more connected to the Superquad.

The Callaway FT-5 is also nice, but I dismissed it as it was a lot more $$ than either the G10 or the Superquad.

G10 probably ticks the boxes if you like it.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
