Yesterday i picked up a new tm rac lob wedge, it is a great wedge probably one of the best clubs i have ever hit, i actually bought the wedge for its full retail price from a store wich goes against my bargain hunter instincts. So i take it and go to the practice range the and on my third swing with the club the sole hits a rock that puts a slight dent and scratch on the prestine club that i just bought a half hour ago. when i looked at the club i was practically in tears.

Wow, that is pure rough.

I dont think they'd take it back either because you were the one who put the damage to it.

Sorry to hear that. That is a huge bummer. Were you swinging on pavement?

Yeah that is a tough one maybe if you make a big enough stink if it is a place like dick's or a chain store you could get it replaced. If that does not work I would say try to write in to the store or manufacture what is the worst that can happen they say no and you are in the same place you are in now.

What?????????????

Why should they replace the club because you "make a stink"? The worst (and only thing) that can happen is that you label yourself as a dishonest piece of sh*t. What would the basis of your complaint be? I hit a buried rock with a 60 degree Vokey recently. I took it home, filed and sanded it. I did not see if there was someone else who could pay for it and lose money because of my misfortune. It's a tough break, but one you have to live with, unfortunately. The "tail (sic) of woe" would be your backside stinging after they kicked you out of the store and that's what you'd deserve.

Posted
I am not saying get thrown out of the store or even doing that if it is a place you shop at regularly because of the chance of being labeled. But if you write a letter you might get some where and that is only if you feel you want to try. I don't see how this can hurt.

Hate to say it but that's the breaks. My son got a new driver for Christmas and on the third ball he hit put a sky mark on it that I couldn't get off. Such is life.

By the way, it's TALE not TAIL

I have a dent and now a small crack on the bottom of my new driver due to a toped shot. Not even once did it enter my mind to try to get someone else to pay for my mistake.

Such is today's mentality I suppose. Why own up to you own mistakes when you might be able to get someone else to take the fall?

Back to the original poster, sorry to hear that man. Like I said with my driver, I sympathize

what does it matter?? the club is going to be hitting the ground hundreds of times in the future , do you think it is going to look brand new forever?

I think a lot of times paying for this sort of return is built into the price of the club to begin with...

And if their policy allows for a return or exchange, is it really your fault for capitalizing?

Its time to prepare your Contributory Negligence suit.

Unfortunately contributory negligence is not an action (and it is english law not US) it is a defence to a negligence claim, so in this case you are suggesting that he sues someone for the damage and then asks them to raise THEIR defence of contributory negligence, thus reducing what little he was going to get anyway?

This is true but, be a little bit sensitive. We don't want our equipment to be torn up. It happens. If you buy a brand new car you don't want a dent in the door the first day you take it home? His pain is understood but like I said before, those are the breaks. If it just bugs the crap out of you to play a club like this, there are those who will buy it from you and you can go out and buy another. You'll be out a few bucks but you'll have your piece of mind back, I guess. I'd play it and make it the best club in my bag just to overcome the frustration.

Man I feel bad for you but as some of the other guys have said its a tough break but work through it, the club is still gonna work.

As for taking it back to the store and raising an issue. I manage at a retail store and these are the exact type of customers I CAN'T STAND!!! To me it is absolutely repulsive to damage something on your own and try to make a store eat it because of your bad luck. Would you take a brand new car back to the dealer because you got a rock in the windshield??? I see this more often than i'd like where some person brings in a driver that's caved in on the bottom from either ramming down on a ball or god knows what and then arguing with me that its a defect, newsflash you're not supposed to hit the ball on the bottom of the club! but its nearly impossible to reason with people that.

I think that anyone who has worked retail or owned a business understands this and doesn't try to cheat the system like that because they understand and the people who try this kind of garbage are usually the reason why people leave retail jobs and make the people working at the stores have crappy days, sorry rant over but I can't believe people advocating this nonsense, have some character and integrity already.

Alright you guys convinced me going in and complaining in a store is pretty low and shotty thing to do so I was wrong.

But I still think if you write a NICE letter to a manufacture it cant hurt because you are not complaining and they can only say no.

Get over it mate, it's a golf club. It's a piece of metal that you hit things with so of course it's going to get banged up sooner or later! Third swing's a bit unlucky but them's the breaks.

I used to work as a department manager at a Sears Hardware store. We would have people try to return crazy things. There was one guy who wanted to return his hand saw because it was so used the teeth were worn down. After being informed that the warranty doesn't cover normal wear on items like blades and bits, he walked outside and stomped the handle, and then came in to return it cause it was broken

    • Interesting discussion. Consider this; we spend 95% of our open eyed life perceiving everything in a front view. That's what we are/become good at. Our eyes/brain don't develop an accurate  sideways aiming system. Plus our perception 'bends' based on shape of the hole, slope, etc. Anyway, I pick a spot 5 feet in between the ball and target and set up my toes parallel to it. That's it. From 150 yards out Im off by 2 feet. Big whoop. You can try to compensate for it, but unless you are good at changing aim in 0.01 degree increments, chances are you will overcompensate.
