the pro at my course recently did some research, through curiosity of how well a pro would fair shooting level par for every round of golf for an entire read.

It is actually quite interesting...

With every tournament excluding majors and world golf championship events, from the 2006 european tour season, Mr "Par-Pro" of the 39 tournaments, would make 26 cuts, with one top 10 and amass £449,838 in prize money, making him 47th on the order of merit and give him a world ranking of about 105.

If that wasn't good enough, if mr pro had managed to get himself an invite into the majors and world golf championship events, those figures would reach £1,465,783 earned putting him 5th in order of merit and a world ranking of about 16, not to mention the US open trophy in the cabinet!!!

ANY GOOD??????

That's quite interesting. I think what it does point out to me is the difficulty of the courses that tour plays play on.

Here's another thought, I wonder how "Mr Inconsistent Pro" would have fared throughout the same season. What I'm thinking of is a pro who every 4 weeks will have 12 under for a tournament, 6 under for a tournament, 6 over for a tournament and 12 over for a tournament? Throughout the same period he'll have averaged even par, but would he fare better on the money list and world ranking?

If the average pro got to play in the us open he'd win it

that was a survey done in a UK magazine this year - though I think it was the PGA Tour.

Sure if you played level par in 2007 you'd win 2 majors....

As good as par sounds - to get to that level (regular european/pga tour player) you need a good +4 handicap standard of golf - birdies are required!
