So I entered that "Dozen-a-day Giveaway" promotion that Callaway and golfballs.com has been running and won a box of Tour ix's. After taking them out of the box they had a very different feel to them. Much different than any other golf ball. The cover seemed like it was made from a strange material I have never felt on a golf ball before and the dimples were much more shallow than anything else I've seen.

What are these made out of and how does it help the ball perform?

This page should answer your questions about the technical aspects of the ball. I have yet to play the ix so I can't comment on experience.

i have a dozen also. im thinking of selling them as they seem to be more for distance than feel and spin??

They advertise both, I'm not sure what the real world results are though.

I believe they have Tungsten in them for a higher Moi.

I have been using this ball for a month or so now... I love it. It has more feel than a Hot, and more distance than the HX Tour. I have not tried the Hot Byte, but coming from the Hot, the Tour i is great. It is like the best of both worlds for me. I am not a low capper though. I would guess that low cappers would not like the lack of spin.

A lot of golf balls have tungsten in them these days (usually in the core). It helps to get the ball to the proper weight.

A lot of balls have titanium in them, too - it's in the white paint.
