Hi everyone, I live in the boonies and don't have any fitters in my area. I am looking to get new Titleist AP2 irons to replace my old DCI OS's and would like to get fitted while I am at it. I noticed shopping on golfsmith that they have this online smartfit system, but am pretty skeptical about it. Anyone know of this or have used this system? It doesn't really consider your swing type, so I have the feeling it may be kinda useless. Is this better than just getting "stock" irons or should I go out of my way to get fitted by a "real" fitter? My ball striking is already pretty good, but would like to take things up a notch and be able to work the ball a bit more. Thanks for your input.

The benefit of going to a fitter is figuring out your lie angles, what lofts works best and which shaft is optimal. You won't figure this out on that smart system. If you can't find a fitter, search the Titleist website and find when there is a demo day near you and where the nearest certified Titleist dealer is.

It depends on the fitting, really. If you're getting a real fitting, where they give you the same iron with multiple shafts, do the same with your driver, fit you for a putter and balls, it could get close to $200 or more.

If you go to a local store, it will last 10 minutes and be free.

    • Day 82: mirror work again tonight. Working on the same shoulder down and roll and twist stuff. Going on vacation tomorrow and putting the clubs down, so new streak starts in about 10 days!
    • Day 44, June 17.  Today was some preliminary stretching, exploring what I'll want to set up as a regular routine (both while on vacation without clubs and when I'm back) (aside: this is part of an upcoming goal to stretch daily in a meaningful way, but I don't plan to count it as practice on days that I can meaningfully practice with a club)
    • Having a rough week. Went to the Dr. because I was really weak and could hardly swing my driver.  I take Propranolol 20 mg tablets twice a day. Seems like the Propranolol was driving my pulse down (low 50's).  So we cut the dosage in half and I started taking my blood pressure. It was a little high but pulse came up.   Then yesterday I raised it to 15 mg tab by taking it 3 times a day. Blood pressure 127 / 77 Pulse 75.  Heading out tomorrow morning for 18 holes.    I have my driver set at 10.5* but seem to have my swing speed to low and I can't get the lift on the ball I need.  I have not played this week in hopes I will have the strength to raise my swing speed. I may have to raise my loft to 12* . (I will take my driver wrench) tomorrow. (This Parkinson's is a pain in the butt.)  Will give you a report when I get back.    Retired Old Man, Terry
