I wasn't expecting such a nice course...I thought the big price tag was because of the views/amenities and location. But I thought it was a great course. Tough but fun.

The views are ridiculous.

Highly recommend!

New Castle is a great course, I am still not sure it is worth the hefty price tag, as mentioned a lot of it is for the views. However, summer prime time you can play Chambers Bay for the same price as Newcastle and there is no comparison between those two courses, there is a reason Chambers is hosting the Open.

If you want to play Newcastle on more of a budget consider the Oki Card if you don't already have one. The sister course China Creek is also nice. It lacks the spectacular views but has a nice layout (it is significantly shorter as well)

I could not disagree more. I have played this course on a number of occasions and each time was worse than the last. The greens are always in horrible shape and if there has been any rain in the last few days...be prepared for your ball to plug all over the place (fairways, greens, rough). Many better tracks in the area for half the price IMO. If you want to spend the money, drop it on Chambers.

Ive never player Newcastle because it seems way over priced. However...I got into a best ball tourny on the China Creek course going down this Friday, being hosted by a vendor that my company uses. I get to play for free so i'm sure i'll like it but yeah...bucking up for Chambers is for sure worth it. i love playing that course! they have the July special going on now for twilight times that is only like $75 for P.C. residents.

    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
    • Day 1 - 2025-12-20 Starting a new streak, of at least 1. With rain dumping for the next week in the north bay area, I'll be a lot of outdoor net work and maybe some putting. About 10 minutes of 7 iron work, focused on the usuals: weight transfer, keeping hands behind me. I'll have more time in the coming days for video review and maybe some Hack Motion.
    • Day 40 (20 Dec 25) - got in a few reps with the 55° wedge - focused on low flighted spinners from about 10 yds in, then wrapped up the session with a few bump and runs chips with the 5i using a putting type stroke.
