I'd like to point out Taylormade on this one since being they have quite a few new drivers that have came out that are becoming quite pricey. Does anyone else here believe that some of these companies just make another "version" of a club so they can jack up the price a bit more? Or do you believe it actually has some better attributes to it.

I think the change in driver head size, weight and newer metals used will have an impact on performance. However, when changes are slight, like they seem to be, only the really good players may notice a change.

I think that the clubs do have better attributes, but I also think that they are not enough better to jack up the price as much as they do. For instance the superquad is just an r7 460 with more weights and it had a jacked up price. They do have things about them that make them better, but you have to get past the company talk and go out and hit them yourself to see if the new things make them worth the price to you.

Do you think its worth it though if the "new and improved driver" is another $100 more or so?

The company wants you spend an extra $100 on a driver that will only end up being an advantage of a couple of yards. Keep what you have - the rest is just plain marketing unless definite gains can be made.

Which drivers are you talking about?
I believe that the FT-3 is just as good as the FT-5, and you can buy them for next to nothing.
I also believe that the D2 is the same as the 905R, but if it is a comparison of a game improvement driver like a D1 compared to a 'players' driver, then there is some difference.
It just depends what you are looking at.

I've just been listening to a podcast interview with Tom Olavsky from TaylorMade. One of his comments was that they could come out with a new driver about every 3 months, at least in terms of product development, but that the market basically won't bear that kind of product cycle.

Its a simple profit organization. What is the difference between a CGB max and Superquad in terms of looks? Some red colour added to it? I really don't see the sense in a ton of weights.

pretty soon, taylormade is going to make a driver made out of weights.

That's why I LOVE TaylorMade. I've been a TaylorMade "driver" forever. They come out with a new driver, and I pick up the older one for 1/2 the price.
