I work in Exton. Ever play Downingtown CC? Not bad, a little pricey.

Not yet... Everything around here is a little pricey! I've heard good things about it though.

I thought Paxon Hollow was going to be a good deal, but it turns out they don't include the cart fee in the greens fee, but force you to get the cart. If you have two people, they force you to pay two cart fees - but you still only get one cart. The total cost is the same as everyplace else though. I'm playing Broad Run again on Friday. I like the course (though I'm nervous hitting near the houses...). I'd join if it wasn't on the wrong side of town - there's no good way to get there. Edgmont is 10 minutes away if I get stopped at all of the lights. Penn Oaks and Concord are about 15 minutes. I'll travel further for an occasional round (like to meet up with the folks here) but if I'm joining a club it's gotta be really convenient so I can use and abuse it! Where do you normally play?

The only place I normally play is in my league at Kimberton Golf Club. The rest is a smattering of whatever's convenient at the time. I actually don't play much, really. Outside of my league, it's been like once a month so far this year. I'm hoping to pick up steam this summer. Broad Run after 3pm during the week is a very attractive after-work option.

OK, since I brought it up, I'll start planning.

How about something the weekend of July 19/20? If we get a foursome or better, I'll find someplace nice to play.

Also, due to an odd work schedule, I have most Tuesdays off. If anyone is ever interested in golfing on a Tuesday, send me a message.

New Member here from DE. I might be able to join next weekend depending on the location and you can handle a high90/low 100

I noticed this thread started with someone looking for course near philly but some of the suggestions really stretched far from Philly (i.e. Wyncote). If so there are some decent courses in No Delaware. If anyone is down this way on a weekend give me a shout.

The 20th is actually pretty good for me. Something later in the day, though, if possible.

looks interesting, I could do that, I think. Little pricey, though......

I am there dude

I was just starting to play when they shut it down for the renovation and have not been there since it opened in May.

I heard it is pretty good.

Rates drop at 1pm and tee times can be made 8 days in advance. So if we want to do this we should get the tee time this saturday because i bet those 1-2pm might fill up quickly.

Let me know

We'll hold off for now - we ended up joining Edgmont so we'll be there for a few weeks to work on our game. Looking at your handicaps, we have a lot of work to do :)

If a couple of you want to meet up with us some time at Edgmont, let me know. Otherwise, we'll see you at the next outing.

Is Edgemont a private course/club?

I would not worry much about the handicap difference

It's private, but they have a pretty liberal visitor policies. If you're with a member, you just pay the greens and cart fees. They have a loose policy regarding how many times a visitor can come out, but they don't actually keep count.

They've made a good deal of improvements to the course in the past few years, too. Let me know if you want to come out for a round. I can say I'm not worried about the handicap difference, but I don't want to embarass myself too much

Absolutely, just let me know. We're trying to play every Friday and Sunday (gotta get our money's worth!). The really serious guys play in the mornings on the weekend, but its seems really relaxed after they are done.

On weekends, we are relegated to afternoons because of club policy regarding women. I think it's a common thing among clubs but my wife is a late riser so it doesn't bother us. It still strikes me as odd...

We're still in the 'hit another from a bad tee shot' stage and my wife will use the 'unplayable lie' rule more liberally than I do (she's cute so she can get away with it). If this kind of thing doesn't bother you, feel free to join us. If it does bother you, you're still free to join us, just be ready to be bothered on a couple holes :-p. It's all in good fun, and that's why we play isn't it?

Oh, ok, so now it's an "event"?! Cool, first ever Sandtrap Open, MidAtlantic qualifier...

Sunday, 1pm or so, Manor Rock in Wilmington, DE ($50 green fee). So far, it looks like: LilGasPasser SonicBlue jwkde I can make a tee time over the weekend, if I get some feedback. I'll post official time once we get it. Anyone else to fill out the foursome? ripsid? Sam004? If this goes over well, I say we all crash MonkeyClaw's posh new club for round 2...

    • Birdied #13 at Quail Brook, which is new. Blocked tee shot right which ended up being fine because I didn't hit it well enough to reach the fescue. Had 110 to the flag and was ready to hit a 3/4 GW to it (even tagged the club) but felt the wind pick up behind me so I decided to club down to the SW and hit it to 4'. Lipped out a 15-footer on #17 for birdie for a tap-in par that also would have been new.
    • I've had a couple of good shots since the last time I posted, 1 a 90 yard approach that I manufactured with my gap wedge that I knocked to about 18 inches, 1 a ~140 yard 8 iron that I got to about 3 feet (pictured), but this week my best shot was a 60 yard pitch. It wasn't anything special but I did hit it out of a divot, so that's what I'm more proud of. Plus, i didn't really have any memorable shots this week.
    • Just a  follow up, I had the best lessons ever on gears with the best instructor! Wish I would’ve made the drive earlier in the year but put it together during a golf trip. Gears was incredible to see your swing in 3d with all the necessary data. I’ve had very few formal lessons in the past and a couple online but nothing compared to working with Erik. He made it  very comfortable and relaxed, patient with all my  questions and showed some swing comparisons of pros swings.    Our main focus was getting the pelvis to move in a better pattern and when he first pushed on my hip with that pvc going back it was like a “wow” moment. And to see the affects in real time just made it quicker to adapt and learn how to find it again, however, even without gears I’m sure it would’ve been an awesome lesson..it’s just nice for some players to see the facts, no debate… At the end of the 1st session I was shocked at the video seeing my pelvis move better, hips open, no early extension. I was literally like I can’t believe that video capture is me! I’m glad I had a second session the following morning, just to reinforce the earlier ideas and work on the next piece to complete the movement, and we still had plenty of time to mess around with lower priority ideas for later. I left that afternoon armed with a practice plan, he took extra time to show me what to look for on my own video and I got a copy of LSW. We’ll continue on evolvr for checkups until another road trip for sure! I also just ordered the stack system with his discount code to work on some speed training as well.    Just wanted to share my appreciation for all Erik’s help and anyone finding there way here like I did over the winter to give it a try!
    • Day 8. Did a bit of setup and backswing work but hip is not ready to swing yet.
