The CWS just ended in Omaha and Fresno state won, a true underdog. Lowest seeded team to win in modern era, 64 teams. Of course I want to gloat also since it is in my home town and it is the only NCAA championship with a permanent home and I get to enjoy attending several games each year.

They got hot at the right time, and they took full advantage of it. People can't say they slipped by without playing any good teams either. They knocked out one of the favorites to win it all (Arizona State) in the Super Regional round. They beat Long Beach St and San Diego in the Regional round prior to that I believe. Then, in the College World Series, they beat national power North Carolina and Georgia a couple times each en route to winning it all. They definitely beat some powerhouses along the way.

Congrats to Mike Batesole and his bunch for a great season!

It's been a tough week for Georgia fans. They lost the CWS and their mascot, Uga, died today. At least they're ranked highly for the upcoming football season, eh?
