Old, rusty wedges. I don't get it.

some people think that the tool will sharpen past legal limits, could be... but Ive never seen any evidence of this being true

You need to have your grooves sharpened. Anybody defending a half decade old rusted out wedge should sharpen their grooves. I like to sharpen mine once a year.

They perform the same.

I use a chrome, and I use a rusty, and I have never hit a shot with the rusty that I say "darn, if that were chrome it would have performed better" or vice versa. The rusties do not outperform the chrome, but the chromes do not outperform the rusties either. Here is where I think you are confused: "new line of wedges" The new lines of wedges by vokey are not much different, if different at all, than wedges he has been making for years. The "new line of wedges" do not have some new design feature that makes them better, they do not have some new technology that makes them different. It is not like comparing automobiles where new lines are constantly improved upon. Now if you're talking about an old rusted out 1978 Macgregor Wedge versus a brand new Vokey, then you would be correct. But an old rusted out Vokey with sharp grooves versus a new Vokey of the same model with similar grooves, there is no difference performance wise, only looks wise. I just won a free vokey wedge the other day. I did not pick a 52 to replace my rusted out current 52. I picked up a 60 degree to give to my father, as I would prefer my rusted out 52 over a brand new chrome one.

I sharpen my grooves almost every round just so they stay real sharp, its not that they're dull or anything

Just so you guys know, sharpening your grooves isn't exactly legal. If you're not playing in any professional/ USGA tournaments you're ok, but if you are... don't get caught!

I was under the impression that it was legal as long as the tool used did not score the groove any deeper than when first purchased, sharpening grooves only repairs damage done to the groove from sand and dirt, reviving the edge and removing any dull portion present
