I just bought the tour burner irons and love them. I need new driver and fairway woods but having a hard time picking. Does anyone know the differences between the clubs. I went to taylormade website and they mention that the tour burner is forgiveing and workable and the burner is max forgiveness. Does this mean the burner is more forgiving thant the tour burner?

Yes the Tour Burner is less forgiving, meaning you can work the ball more. The standard burner is very forgiving, meaning off centre hits are still likley to go straight. But I think the Tour Burner is longer becuase of less forgivness.

The Burner is a 460 cc head, while the Tour Burner is 450 cc, so that would allow the Burner to be slightly more forgiving and the Tour Burner to be slightly more workable. Also, the face of the Burner is 1 degree closed while the Tour Burner's is square. The closed face helps people who fight a slice get the face more square at impact. If you don't slice your drives or if you already hit a draw, the closed face may hurt more than it helps, so in that regard the Burner wouldn't be more forgiving.

I think you have the answer your looking for , I also have the tour burner irons and i am rally liking them.. I have a Burner Draw driver. ( it was 100 bux off) (and i was slightly slicing) I really like it, as do most of my friends.
but after some time with it im finding the 2 deg closed face is making me strong draw or hook it. Ive tried opening the face up but it doesnt respond to well to it. so im thinking about finding a used Tour burner or R7 to try and get back to a straight shot driver that i can work some.

The irons are amazing. I think the 1 degree wont hurt anything at most it will help. I think I will end up buying the Burner along with the 3 wood and 3 hybrid. The best thing about the Burner is 200.00 dollars cheaper.

Hi everyone,

New to the board here. Just bought the tour burner irons today and they rock! Getting older and had to finally move away from my Hogan Edge Pros.

I have the Burner Driver, the TP 3-Wood, and the Burner Resue 19 degree hybrid. When I was younger, I swore I'd never have this much Taylormade crap in my bag, but I'm a believer now.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
