where to start
im still in shock ..i played 18 today and couldnt find anyone to play with
so i grabbed the 2 girls (age 5 and 12) and headed out
a little back ground ...we got the girls 1 year and 9 months ago
they are my wifes cousins ..long story short ..they have had a bad life
never been out to eat or even had a birthday party or even been to the movies... ect...

so i was tryin to explain golf to them as i played ... i reckon it was just a relaxin round w/ them but after the first 5 holes i knew i had a gr8 round going ... bogey,bogey,bogey,par,birdie...

my back ground ..i just started breakin 100 consistently about 2 weeks or so ago... 94 being my lowest ever

so i keep going and talikin to them ... and go par then a 7 ( have to explain to the 5 year old about yellin during a person back swing LOL) hit a tree tryin to get out ect..
then go bogey then birdie the 9th ( didnt add at the turn)

then on the back go bogey, bogey, double bogey ( remind her about yellin during back swing LOL) then par, bogey, bogey, par, bogey then par 18
and had the 12 year old add up the score ...
she said 40 on the front ... and 42 on the back ... i said u must of missed
a hole or 2 on each side and i took the card and added myself
and WOW she was right ... I SHOT AN 82 OMG im sitll in shock
12 strokes better than my best

sorry for the long story ..... im just excited !!!!!

Okay, I know I'm supposed to congratulate you for the 82 (btw, congrats!), but I'm gonna actually give you mad congratulations for the 5 and 12 year olds. You should be most proud of giving them a home and a family, and caring enough to take them with you today.

You rock dude.

Yeah, you have a lot of guts not only caring for the kids, but also taking them on the golf course, haha.

Nice round man, it's these type of days that keep us from quitting.

Nice 82 that is a MONSTER score for someone just breaking 100 its freaking not even CLOSE too bad you werent betting a friend you would have smoked ANYONE shooting that low to your handicap.. I just added it this was a par 70 right?? Not that 82 isnt amazing... Im hoping to get there someday..

My mom actually took in 2 of her neices as well... I think of them as my sisters now, I'm sure glad my mom took them in... and plus they always got some SWEET foster child christmas gifts every year. Nice work.

Congratulations on that nice round.

I hope you learned a couple things from your story. I did.
  • You weren't wrapped up in yourself.
  • You weren't pressured - it's only the kids.
  • The triple or whatever just sort of happened and you played the next hole.
  • You didn't know what your score was and you didn't seem to care.
Keep it up and I admire you for taking those girls into your home.

Mister Longshanks, I was able to do that without quoting his entire freaking story.

lol a lot of people are addicted to the quote button, even when it was the previous post. :D

It makes viewing posts on a mobile phone a PAIN... something you just have to get used to...

    • On my trip at Bandon. I have a couple of best shots come to mind. I had kind of a stupidly good short game shot out of some nasty stuff. I didn't really make any bombs putting.  I could say any drive I hit straight that was hitting directly into the wind, lol. That was nasty. I literally hit a ball like 150 yards right. I am going with my drive on hole 18 at Old MacDonald. 469 yard par 4, down wind. The narrowest fairway on the course, and you have to navigate two sets of bunkers. I stripe one down the middle, catch the slope and have to roll out to about 95 yards to the pin. So yea, that 370-ish drive in the fairway on a 469 par 4 wins the shot of the week.
    • Day 2: mirror work while watching some TV. Checking on some backswing stuff primarily - making sure I’m still steep enough in the backswing.
    • Day 88 (28 Jul 25) - Short session this afternoon after a full day of yard work at the house.  Worked on setup and tempo thru the shot with the 52° wedge in the backyard.  Hit about 20 balls total - just staying focused on the process.
    • Day 10: More putting with the metronome. Short putts feel really slow and long putts feel really fast. Getting more comfortable every day.
    • Day 301 - 2025-07-28 Watched a lot of golf today at Fox Chapel, but then came home and did some mirror work. Re-dedicated. Which is saying something, as I've been playing okay. But relying on my athleticism to just do "okay."
