I am looking at getting something to help groove my putting stroke. Maybe one of those boomerangs or one of the Izzo putting greens. Can anyone recommend one over another?

imo it's hard to putt on matts from my experience. they're FAST as crap and don't give you accurate reads on your stroke b/c it plays 1 speed = FAST.
I prefer going to the range or the course to use the putting greens on days when I can't play a full round but wanna get some work in.
Just be crazy and spend the thousands on a real green to be put in your backyard. My uncle did that at his new house & it's SICK. he's got a 3 hole pitch & putt as his back yard.

but realistically, I'd say j ust to get the stroke down, putt on different surfaces. I'll put on the hardwood, the rug, carpet, and a little $20 mat that I got last year when I 1st started. $20 from sports authority..

LOVE my Boomerang .

There are 2 models out there, but I have the black one.

This is the other one:

I've never used it, but I like the design of the black one because you can miss to the right and left. Also, the black one comes with a mat, the gray one does not.

I think both models are sold by the same guy.

Yeah, putting mats don't really help much. They are ridiculously fast, faster than any green I've ever seen that's for sure.

True. I'm lucky because I have a rug in my living room that I can use to simulate slower greens, or the Boomerang mat for fast greens.

I have a

LinksPutt green that I like. Pricey, but allows you to create most any kind of putt you want to work on.

I thought they were the same, except that the black Boomerang includes an 8' "Carnoustie" mat, while the gray one does not (you can buy a 6' "Carnoustie" mat for $20).

From reading the descriptions, they look like the same mat.

I have a

that is disgusting!!! damn

in terms of simulating real putting situations thats probably the best thing out there, also a hell of a lot cheaper than a professionally installed putting green when you think about getting different putts

Last winter, I had an artificial surface installed by "Texas Greens". It's 15' by 47', three tiers and five holes.

The best money I've ever spent (talking golf here).

They adjusted the speed of the green to match the public courses I play in the Austin area...it's wonderful! Also has "fringe" for chipping. When I want to slow things down, I just get out the hose and wet 'er down. Heck, even my wife putts!

On the course, the results are beginning to show. I used to three putt about half of the holes I played. That's been reduced to between one and 2 per round (that's 6 strokes!!!!!).

It was expensive to have installed, but in my mind...the best golf money ever spent. Parties, neighbors, even hours working alone on my short game. It's definitely gotten me off of the couch in the evenings! Wife and I even installed perimeter lighting for fall and winter evenings!

Best golf money ever spent!!!!!!!

Depends on your personal situation, I guess. For me, I wanted something that would allow me to alter the slope and break however I wanted to. There weren't too many products out there that allow someone to do that as easily as I can with this.

I was a little surprised by the styrofoam support, but it is sturdy enough to support the green and flexible enough to allow breaks when the risers are put in place. I don't know that a piece of plastic would flex as progressively as foam and the resulting breaks would be less real. You don't step on the putting surface...you use the moveable stand which is a very solid aluminum. It can also be elevated or sloped to match the contour of the green to give you the proper feel. In the end, I really like it. It allows me to work on getting my stroke consistent without having to leave home.

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
