I'm going to get my clubs fitted at the local Golf Etc. Since I bought my clubs used off of Ebay, they were going to charge me for it, which is fine. The sales guy was telling me that what they do is something called, a Bag Analysis. Is that the same thing as fitting?

They go through each club and I hit balls on the launch monitor. They'll tell me what lofts, lies, and any other adjustments are needed. They give 3 free adjustments and charge a certain amount after that. So all that is for $75, does that sound right?

Ehh idk 75 bucks sounds a little steep to me. At golfsmith i needed 1/4 inch chopped off my irons and they said it was 5 dollars a club plus grips.

And i got the actual fitting for free. No loft, no lie, just length.

Did you buy your clubs from them?

I'm more worried about length for some reason. I think I may be able to deal with the loft and the lie for now.

Most places I go to charge $5 for club extension and for lie/loft adjustment (grip price not included). For someone to spend 1/2 hour with you going over each club, adjusting them if needed, I will say that $75 is a little on the higher end but not too out of the ordinary. A lot of shops will charge a $20-$40 launch monitor fee just to fit you into a driver.

The $75 sounds fine. Make sure they do the following before you hit your clubs:

1) Make sure they measure and weigh your clubs, first.
2) They should check the lie and loft of each club before you begin to hit them.

They should give you a copy of their findings. This way, you make sure they are not charging you for something that they are not doing.

FWIW, if the work is being done on the premises, ask if you can watch them do the work. IMHO, this is the best time to ask questions and learn a little about golf equipment.

Thanks for the info.

I also called the Pro Golf shop around here and they seem to be a bit cheaper. He said about $6.50 a club to lengthen/shorten, and adjust lie and loft. On the other hand, Golf Etc. said they record and measure EVERYTHING. He was talking from frequency, club speed, the whole nine yards.

I'm thinking that paying a few extra bucks may be worth it but I'm also leaning more towards Pro Golf because it's cheaper in every aspect. Help!!!

Bugger how much they charge you, if they do a good job and you feel comfortable working with them then in the long run they will end up saving you money by doing it correctly first time. Always remember, you will be enjoying the quality of an item a long time after you have forgotten how much it cost you.

It's not always about the price you know.

yes. besides telling you overall which clubhead you hit best, they can tell which shaft flex, what kind of shaft tip, and loft that you should be using.

The fitting for my clubs at the local golf store was $35. That was for them to fit me with length and lie and give me advice as to what clubs to try. They gave me the original sheet that they wrote everything on and just kept a copy of it for their knowledge.
