Switching from undercut cavity wedges to blades

I switched to a blade putter. It has improved my putting since I am focusing on feel and technique.

I am going to blades for my wedges. I figure I will have similar issues such as more sting if I hit incorrectly or lost distance on off centered hits.

What will I lose in doing so? Since the loft is high, sidespin is less of an issue.

My next long term project is to go to blade or muscleback irons (in the distant future).

Honestly, you should be able to hit a 'blade' wedge. It's not very difficult to hit a wedge on the center of the face.

I don't think you'll lose anything. Extreme toe hits with my Vokeys only lose about 10 yards max. I could never hit a cavity 55* SW more than 75 yards. If I tried to bang it it would just baloon. I can hit my blade 55* SW 90 yards easy and full out bang it close to 100.

Switching from undercut cavity wedges to blades

Higher lofted blades/mb are easy to hit. If you can't hit a 8i blade, don't get blads b/c it will just get worse. When I went to mb's it took me about 6 months to learn how to hit them. Basically they liked a nice easy full swing. Once you get that down you can start to lean on them a bit. I noticed you have an Edilon wedge; great wedges IMO; I have the 48 52 and 60. Good luck with which ever you decide on.

    • Wow that was disingenuous. Like, let’s ignore that golfers actually rotate. It isn’t all side bend. Has incorrect or excessive side bend hurt golfers sure. In no way are golfers taught to just fling their hips towards the target. To basically claim it’s him versus this evil golf instruction industry is just disingenuous.

    • I'm starting to move with some speed and confidence. Carried the fairway bunker 225 yards out on the 17th yesterday fairly comfortably. I don't think it was a one off drive either. Pretty much back to game speed. On another note it doesn't seem like my pelvis is nearly as thrusty compared to a this time last year. I hope I'm judging that correctly. It's an ongoing battle.
