Sudden 'burst of yardage' from wedges

Last couple of rounds my wedges (Taylormade irons w/50* PW and 55* SW) have been hit 10-15 yards farther than usual. These weren't windblown shots either. I've always had these two clubs dialed in. PW 100-105 and the SW 80-95 full on.

Imagine my surprise when I hit the PW through the green and into the back bunker from 105. Probably went 125. Last hole at league play Tuesday I had a similar shot. Walked to ball with both wedges. 115 to a short pin, so I guessed 105. Remembering what happened a couple of holes prior, dropped the PW and hit the SW to within 6" for the kick in birdie!

These must have been the best two swings of my life for the wedges to go that far!

Any comments?

I have had this before, randomly hitting my gap wedge 130 or something silly, this is why you have to check all the conditions and the quality of your lie as there are a hundred things that can effect the out come of the shot.

Both perfectly flat lies on short cut fairways! You could be onto something. I need to play from the 'short grass' more regularly!

Yea like from above u have to check conditions. Ex: Lie, is the green firm, ect..

Driver: Titleist D2, 9.5* loft, Aldila VooDoo XS, IOMIC Grip Red

      Day 4, 1/2/26.  Played 18 today;  didn't get a chance to warm up (had I known the range was closed, I'd have hit balls at home first).  Played okay, 92 with three balls in the water.  It was raining for more than half the round and I didn't quite appreciate before today just how much I benefit from roll on both drives and approach shots.  I did not adapt well to this change until about hole 15, which is something I have to figure out.

      Day 143 1-2 Arch wrist in downswing. Having a SLIGHT cup in the lead wrist at the top now. Only paused swings with some rehearsals before swinging at ball.  Used foam ball.

      Day 459 - 2026-01-02 Had two guys on GEARS Hybrid, so I hopped on afterward (I'm going to do this a lot more often now). So… I've signed myself up for another month of backswing work in two ways: A little more extension of the trail elbow (got into the upper 90s) Less pelvis turn (low 50s).

      Day 31 (2 Jan 26) - Usual Friday men’s group shootout - good day of shot making  as most shots were right on line to the target point.  Putter and green reads were solid with some great par saves and a really tricky birdie.
