Again, I don't think I've ever watched a round of the playoffs or the tour championship. So it doesn't even register on my careometer, lol. I think it was you (not sure), on the podcast that said that players shouldn't be rewarded (read: given credit) for making cuts. Its wins, top 10's, that count...

And here, what have you got against NI eh!? XD

Wasn't me that said that. I think if you miss the cut you should suffer the penalty, as Paddy did.

Nothing. Just pointing out your homerism.

Hmm, homerism: The tendency of sports fans to advocate for their home teams to an unreasonable or irrational degree.
Thats a new one to add to the vocab. And I think we're both a little guilty of that then.

Why? The guy won half a point in the last Ryder Cup.

True, but I like his overall game and attitude more than Perry's. And it's not like Perry's Ryder Cup record is any better. He's played in one and went 0-2.

Even though he didn't show very well in the playoffs, I'd still take Harrington's back to back majors over all of Perry's wins this year. Also, Perry skipping the British Open really rubbed me the wrong way. I know he claims that it was partly because he had committed to the other tournament already, but c'mon. He also said that his decision was based in part because he hadn't played well in Europe. I would prefer someone on the U.S. Ryder Cup team who wasn't afraid to face the top players in the world, even if he hadn't done well in the past. Finally, As you mentioned, Perry didn't qualify for the first 2 majors of the year, skipped the British, and withdrew due to the eye injury from the PGA. Compare that to Harrington who won 2 back to back this year and 3 over the last 2 years. It's not even close for me.

It would have been another thing if the Ryder Cup was being contested at a course similar to the Open Championship course. It's not, so that's pretty irrelevant.

Anyway, this topic should go back to being about Padraig, or really, should die down since the true topic had little or nothing to do with the Ryder Cup.

The only part of this thread I had a problem with were the somewhat over zealous comments talking about how Harrington was going to dominate Tiger next season ... which I thought were going overboard. He's had a tremendous year - Player of the Year in my book - but since the PGA he hasn't been playing like someone who was going to dominate a Tiger Woods. Maybe if the previous posters qualified their statements and said Harrington could dominate Tiger Woods while he was still getting into fully tournament shape then I'd agree a lil' more.

His Ryder Cup performance wasn't impressive at all. Tiger is impressive in his consistency almost as much as he's impressive in his wins. Again, I'll be watching for this matchup next season.

    • Played Sunday and implemented the Mayo spinner. Hit my second shot long and left on three to a bare lie. I have seen this shot to a tucked pin but I don’t swing across it enough and hit it too far with a ton of spin but it rolled into the bunker. I pulled my approach short and left on ten to a horrible lie with about 3’ of rise to a tucked pin maybe 5’ on the green. Ball is in a damp lie with debris behind and in front of the ball. Hit it to 3.5’ but horseshoed the putt around the right edge, which was a common miss. I hooked my tee shot into an unplayable lie in the hazard on the left side of the par 5 16th. Hit a great recovery that rolled to about 45 yards short of the back right pin. Hit the spinner over a bumpy green that rolled just over the ridge to 3’. Sank the straight 2.5’ putt. Felt like I had good control of these shots!
