I just purchased a used set of Hogan Apex Plus irons w/ Hogan stiff shafts. There is something wrong. I had a temporary set of Apex Plus irons w/ Hogan stiff shafts while I was waiting for these to arrive (also had hogans before). The feel of the temp set was sweet! It was the famous Hogan "sweet as butter" feel. However this new set feels "dead". No pop, no soft feel. Also, to throw more into this, I am hitting a fade with these. I have a very good, consistent swing and this fade is new to hitting these irons.

I have a set of dynamic gold S300s just sitting here collecting dust. Would it be a bad idea to change the shafts out?

Is it possible that shafts could cause the "dead" feel and also cause the new fade? Could it simply be the grips? I do know from research that the hogan shafts are not as stiff as the S300s. My swing speed is 100 - 105 with my driver.

I would really appreciate any insight into this.

Thanks,
Brad

It could be loft/lie angle.. correct me if im wrong but the hogan apex's are natorious for the lie angle being messed up by just hitting them for a couple of seasons. i believe the material is a softer alloy or something which is why they feel like butter... i would go down to a local shop and ask them to see if the lie and loft angles are what they are supposed to be for that model.

Great, thank you! I'll check it out.
