Launch Angle?

I just started playing and my launch angle is too high.

I've had it measured around 17-20, but I just got back from the driving range and I'm hitting it really high.

How can I get it down?

What determines launch angle?

I know there probably isn't a simple answer to this, but any help is appreciated.

your equipment plays a major role. Improper pairing of shafts and clubheads with your swing can exaggerate any swing flaws you may have. Head over to a golf store...bring your club...walk around like you are shopping for clubs. They'll put you on the launch monitor and check your stats. Compare that to other clubs. If those other clubs give you more favorable statistics...then there is your answer. If you still arent hitting them to your liking...your swing needs to be re-tooled.

Another very common problem is ball position and the height of your tee. There really are about 10 different causes that could be combining. Best to see a pro.

You could be opening the clubface at impact turning your 9.5 degree into a higher loft. Could be the kickpoint in your shaft.Your shaft could also be to flexible.Ball position as someone else mentioned.

I would do as already suggested and go back to where you got your launch angle stats and try some different combos.

Your problem may be more tied to spin rate and angle attack then to launch angle directly. In general the desired launch conditions are a high launch angle combined with a low spin rate. If spin is causing the high ball flight then modifications to setup and swing that produce a shallower angle of approach should help. If your backspin rate is not too high then you may find that changes that promote the club swinging through level at impact may help.

If your hitting with too much of an upward blow and setup with 60% of your weight on your back leg, and your spine tilted significantly away from the target then you may benefit from setting up with 50-50 weight distribution and less spine tilt away from the target. If your blow is too decending then the 60% weight on the back foot and spine tilted away from the target may help you level out for impact.
