Recently I noticed a tiny spot of rust on the face of my putter, which has a chrome finish, but thought it was just isolated and wasn't a huge deal. Well now, a couple weeks later, there are five tiny rust spots on it. I'm assuming I got them due to moisture left on the face that was trapped in the head cover (I am now going to start doing a better job of wiping my putter down after every round). Is there any way to get rid of this? Would a commercial rust remover like CLR do the job, or would that be a bad idea to use on my putter? Also, will this affect the performance or feel of the putter in any way? I haven't noticed any difference so far, but if it keeps building up could it?

Thanks for the help!

Yeah, it's completely ruined. It won't ever look or putt right again.

You should just send it to me for proper disposal.

Should be fine man, oil can wedges are meant to rust and that gives them a lot more touch. Just take WD-40 or some other rust remover, spray it on a rag and then wipe it down. If you do this for a few days straight it should be gone soon. Also, theres no way this would ever affect your putting in any way.

DO NOT USE WD40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it actually contains chemical solvents that adhere fertilizers and other chemicals used on greens that will eat through that rust spot and only make things worse use an electrical grade silicone lubricant (dupont makes one)... this is a safe thing to use

Contact Bettinardi, Mizuno or where you purchased the putter and maybe they can recommend something or better yet possible replace the putter for you, worth a try.

that would be amazing if they would replace the putter, but... thats highly unlikely

keep the putter lubricated with a silicone lubricant and make sure you arent keeping the putter in a moist headcover.
