Lately, I've been slicing my driver on most swings. On my woods it's more of a power-fade, and on my long irons it's just a slight fade. On my short irons and wedges I have a straight ball flight. I had a lesson about a month ago and he looked at my swing and told me that I was consistently on-plane. My ball flight with my driver has gone through patterns since I starting seriously golfing in April. It started with a slice. Afterwards it started going the other way going to a fade, then straight, then a draw, then hooking pretty bad and the last two months it has started going the opposite direction to a draw, straight, fade, power fade, and now I'm slicing again. My theory is that since April my swing speed has gradually increased and I am "outgrowing" the regular flex shafts. Lately with my driver my clubhead seems like it is "lagging" further behind my hands than it used to which I think means that the shaft I use is too soft of a flex. Should I consider trying something with a stiffer shaft?

If the driver is just spraying every which way I would say that the shaft could definitely be the culprit. Try out some drivers with stiff shafts, different kick points, and different weights and see which one you like the best.

club are usually only 10 - 15% of a golf swing and you are responsible for 85 - 90% of a golf swing. I would stay with the club you have and check your swing.

If you are slicing the ball I would have someone check my swing out first. sound like your hands are not turning over and the club face is left open at and after impact.

I am much the same..
lob sand gap- no draw
7-PW-15-20 yard draw.
6 and 5-Slight draw.
4 and 2- straight as hell.
woods+driver, nice baby draw.

So as my clubs get longer, my draw straightens out, whcih isnt a big deal, as i do it every time pretty consistently, so as long as you always get the same shot, it isnt a horrible problem. but if you are spraying, get some lessons, and get fitted for a shaft, my game turned around when i picked up my V2's.

Well, my slice/power-fade is predictable enough to aim far enough left to be in the fairway. I'm going to try and swing something with a stiffer shaft. If I still have the problem, I'll talk to a golf pro.

How do you hit you irons,do you hit them fat or top them and what ball flight now,i think your jumping the gun on the shaft, the shaft is not going to make any diiffference with the ball flight your describing, sounds like your swing is off or on wrong plane,

The shaft is not your problem, It's your swing. It would be the shaft if you kept hitting the ball with a slight fade or draw ect, ect every time with the same swing. But since you hit it every which way your not repeating your swing, different swing for every different result. Try to make the same swing over and over. Being a high handicapper learn to make a repeatable swing, then worry about the equipment.

    • Day 1: After a long practice layoff due to injury, vacation, winter darkness, and work stuff, I'm trying to start back up again. Today I just hit balls with keys from my lesson 6-ish weeks ago; neutral grip and centered turn. Gonna work with that for a few weeks, see how it goes, and then get a lesson scheduled.
    • It’s not live on free to air tv in the UK, and hasn’t been since 1995. ( I pay a subscription to Sky for generally good golf coverage). There are limited highlights on the BBC for some golf events, but that’s it. Are other/all PGA events on NBC?  Allowing ticket scalping is a systemic failure across sports and showbiz, which could be legislated against, but in the UK is not in any meaningful way. I don’t know much about the secondary market in the US or anti scalping measures.  Charging more to keep prices down is an interesting concept, in practice no doubt you are right even if It sounds a bit Catch 22  Do you think sports tickets and broadcast rights  should be sold on a purely capitalist basis, or is there an argument to say that some sports might benefit more from wider exposure and affordable access. ( golf in the US is apparently not one of these if tickets sold out at those prices so quickly)  Fans might benefit from cheaper tickets and in the UK at least, TV coverage that reaches a wider audience.
