I posted a poll here last week and I think I've resigned myself to getting a cart bag. I currently use a Callaway Terra Firma X stand bag all the time but the past couple seasons I find myself riding almost exclusively.

I'm looking to get a Cart bag (not a Staff bag, too big) and was looking for some opinions on what I should get.

So, if you are a Cart bag owner, I'd love to know:

1. What cart bag you own
2. How long you've used it
3. Likes
4. Dislikes

Many thanks everyone!

-Nike Slingshot OSS in black/silver

-Used it a year

-Looks good, has 14 full length dividers and big storage pockets and has been durable so far.

-It would be cool if one of the large pockets on a side was an insulated cooler, I don't need 2 huge pockets, I put shoes in one of them.

1. Titleist S55

2. 3 years

3. Nice look (all black), plenty of pockets in convenient locations, putter slot, not all individual full length dividers (I don't like those), strap tucks away without removing it entirely

4. Beverage bottle net on side tore at bottom but other than that no dislikes.

2. A little over a year
3. Individual tube for each club (14), looks, number of pockets, clip-lock, revolving top, so far seems durable/well made
4. Some pockets aren't very deep, putter clip instead of external putter tube, kind of heavy

Sun Mountain C-130. I've been using it ovar a year. It is really designed for a cart based on the way the cart strap goes around it, with a sleeve it goes through in the front. Plenty of pockets, lightweight; strap tucks away in a sleeve; individual putter slot.

Dislikes: if you put much of anything in the large side pockets it makes for a tight fit getting a second bag on a cart. Ping's cart bag has a huge front pocket for bulky items like wet suits. (Unfortunately, the way the putter slot is positioned I wonder if Ping ever actually tried putting one of these on a cart based on the way the strap fits around it.)

In the bag: Rapture V2 10.5, Ping G10 Hybrids (18/21/24), Ping i10s (5-PW), Ping Tour Wedges (52/56/60), Ping Anser, TM Burner ball, Golf Guru GPS

Great info so far, guys.

More input is greatly appreciated!

Ping - venture model i think, but not very certain on the model. I use it mainly on a sun mountain push cart, but also very good for a motorized cart. Moved from a carry bag when i got the push cart - best decision on both fronts. Bag has plenty of room for whatever i need, and travels OK. A little heavy but nothing truly bothersome. Approx. $100 retail 2 years ago.

I have been using my SUn Mountain C-130 for about a year now and really enjoy it. I use it primarily on my e-cart which it was made specifically for and it fits well. All pockets are easy to reach and have enough room to store anything. The cooler pocket is one of the best features (IMO). I looked around at different bags and this one has the largest cooler pocket. I typically ice down a couple bottles of water and a sports drink. The drainage holes at the bottom of the cooler are an added benefit b/c as the ice melts is simply drains out onto the ground. The bag also has two insulated pockets where most bags only have one. The only dislike I have is that when I put ice in the cooler it can get a bit tight on the cart with another bag. It is a snug fit but not overly cramped. A great bag. I believe I paid about $150 for it.

    • While on vacation in Punta Cana a few weeks ago I played with rental clubs, Mizuno Pro 245's with KBS Tour Lite steel shafts. Surprisingly, I was blown away, not only by the distance, trajectory and dispersion I was getting but also about how soft and buttery they felt. It got me thinking.... IT'S TIME FOR NEW IRONS! Just yesterday, at my local Golf Galaxy, I tested them again side by side with the JPX Forged (recommended by the Mizuno rep who happened to be there) which also felt pretty good. Not as buttery soft as the 245's but they did produce slightly better numbers on off-center hits. Also, I haven't played with forged clubs with steel shafts in 10 years thinking I was getting too old and that I needed the lighter weight but these clubs with that shaft felt really, really good. So that's my long and drawn-out intro to my question: Does anyone here at TST play with either of these clubs and if so, what's your opinion?

    • By today’s standards that’s certainly true, but they weren’t having any trouble hitting golf balls in 2005 so I’ve equipped myself with what was among the very best equipment around that time for a very reasonable investment. If I get to the point where I feel like I’ve outgrown that stuff, I’ll reward myself with something more current. But for now I don’t need adjustable loft and lie and modern head shape, just a good quality, proven club with a clean club face. For now I’m going to concentrate on the basics. I know you can get more yardage with newer woods, but I don’t care about distance nearly as much as consistency, and you can’t buy that for any price.
