I have been playing the 56 and 60 degree wedges for about two months now, and I still do not understand if I should be letting them rust or not. I have heard that they work better rusted over, but I am a neat freak and clean my clubs after every round, so they have no opportunity to rust. The lower and center portion of the club head have lost the finish and now appear to be stainless steel. Could someone please give me a run-down on why these wedges were designed to rust, if I should be letting them rust, and the overall "purpose" of these wedges. Thanks a lot

the rust has nothing to do with spin or performance... its pure aesthetics

its like the anti-chrome statement, I have oil can vokeys... I stripped the oil can off right away then soaked them in salt water

Thanks a lot. I personally do not like the color of the wedges so maybe I will strip the finish also. Thanks!

I've never understood the idea of having rusty clubs in my bag next to all my other clubs! Does this increase the risk of rust for my other iron heads/shafts?

Personally I like the rusty look or anything dark when it comes to wedges and it's not about aesthetics for me. I like the dark dull look because it cuts down on glare when you have the sun at the wrong angle. With chrome or other finishes I find that sometimes they are almost too bright to look at with the sun beating down. It's only ever a problem with wedges for me due to the increased loft of a 60* wedge over say a 6 iron.
