Have used my Burner 3 wood for about 10 rounds. It has been an amazingly nice club. Untill today. Pulled it out on the 9th tee, and had it resting on the ground while I was waiting for others to tee off, had the tiniest amouont of pressure on it and it snapped into two! Must have been cracked and hanging on by a thread!

I had used it twice during the round, off the first tee with no problems and then on the 4th hole, off the fairway. The ball was sitting down a little and I caught it very thin and close to the heel as well. I guess this is what did the damage... I can't believe that this was enough to break it though... I have seen clubs take way more punishment than this. Must have been unlucky and got a club with a dodgy shaft. Anyone else had issues with these burner shafts?

Time to test out Rockbottom golf's after sales customer service!

Is now a good time to look at upgrading the shaft? I hit this club quite high but really straight so don't really want to upset things much. Any suggestions here?

I'm not sure about Burner 3 Woods or Taylormade in general, but when my Cleveland Launcher 3 wood cracked at the hosel on a hit, Cleveland informed me that I go to a certified dealer which will then send the club in for a an evaluation at the Cleveland repair center. They replaced the club's stock shaft with another Fujikura shaft at no cost to me. The club should be arriving tomorrow or the next day.

Taylormade may have a similiar policy.

I saw a kid of about 15yrs old break two TaylorMade woods in successive shots at the driving range a few weeks back! Don't know if they were Burners or not...

He said he'd had the things about a year or so. I told him he should buy a lottery ticket ;)

I had a TM burner 3 wood and was hitting it at the range and started hitting it weird. I looked at the face and there was a crack in the face. I sent it into TM and they were good about it, they just gave me a brand new one.

Send it in to TM and they will either fix it or give you a new one.

Good luck.

Well, after a couple of emails and some sending of pictures, my replacement 3 wood has arrived, less than a week after it broke.

Well done to RockBottom Golf and Taylormade. You both have a customer for life...

I couldn't be happier with the service and with buying clubs online (not sure about ebay though, unless you buy from a known retailer...)

    • Day 33 (13 Dec 25) - Worked on weight shift and resetting the left heel during downswing (after listening to a discussion on Golf School this morning on PGA Tour Radio).  It centered on how Jack Nicklaus lifted his lead heel and how long driver champs do as well.  Taking cues from that discussion, worked an exaggerated feel of the left heel working doing some swing drill in the backyard using the 7i.  Wrapped up the session by hitting a few low bump and run shots in the backyard - keeping the process slow and exaggerated.
    • Day 123 12-13 Rotation and getting to lead side work. Recorded face on. Hit a few foam balls but did plenty of rehearsals today.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
