Guys,

I am set on getting two Vokey SM wedges, a 54 and a 58.

First question is the bounce. I tend to hit divots so I am thinking of going 54.14 and 58.08, is this TOO much bounce? Especially the 54.14? Will I be blading everything?

The other question is if I should go with 54 and 58 in high bounce or the sand wedge in high and the lob in low or medium bounce. maybe 54.10 and 58.08 or 54.14 and 58.12?

And finally should I wait for the new Vokey's till end of October or are they basically the same wedge with different finish?

Thanks for the help guys, don't want to drop $200 for two clubs and find out they are not the right bounce or something.

TIA

I would probably go with the 54.10 to be on the safe side. I usually dont leave much of a divot if any at all and the 10* bounce is almost to much for me so I think it would be perfect for you.

Thanks for the response.

Can you expand a bit on what you feel is too much bounce??

That is the part I am unsure of, since my current wedges are $5 Walmart clubs.

Too much bounce like the 54.14 can be alright but you have to make sure to get a decent bit under the ball you will top it. Also if you play on courses that are usually really hard and also have harder sand you will want less bounce so the club will not bounce of the ground because you won't be able to leave a divot on the hard ground. The lower bounce clubs let you get less under the ball but its also easier to dig the club into the ground if you play on softer ground or in fluffy sand.

I play 52, 56 and 60 vokey's. Being left handed, I can't get a 56 with less bounch.
I play my 60 8*bounce out of the sand most of the time. Typically I pitch with my 60 to stop it, and 52 to roll out and only use my 56 for specific full swing shots. (because of too much bounce)

Maybe hold off on the vokey's until you know what you need/want?

I would wait until the new line of Vokey's come out in a month or so. There will be more options available as well as various grindings to choose from. Then I would go to a respectable clubfitter and have him set you up with the correct set of wedges.

Thanks guys.

Any info on the new grinds for the Vokey line?

Oh another thing on the Vokey site they recommend 54.10 for a slider and 54.14 for a digger, and the 58.08 for either.

I am more of a digger so I was thinking of following their advice.

I can get each wedge for $98 shipped to my office with labor day discounts.

Jaggy can you tell me exactly why you use your 56.14 for full swings only, what happens on short pitches?

if you sole the club with 14* bounce you will see the leading edge is about 1/8 inch off the surface. On a tight lie that gets in my head. (99% of why I don't pitch with it)
The other reason is I play my 60 very well for a stop and drop and my 52 for a lower role out shot.

What do you play out of a bunker?

Ultimately you will learn to hit your clubs and I hope you love them as much as I do mine.
its hard to go wrong with any vokey.

Hey guys,

Wanted to update you. I just received my new Vokey SM wedges, a 54.10 and a 58.08. I went with the 58 instead of the 60 as I feel my 60 is not as versatile.

Really waiting for the day to end to head out to the range and try this puppies out. They look fantastic and love the weight and feel! Much better than my $5 Walmart lob wedge.
