Im fairly new here, so I am just curious as to if this is the norm, or because of the season more people are playing. The last few days, there are tons of new threads saying "which clubs or which driver". Then 40 people respond claiming the irons or drivers they use to be the best.

The reason I ask, is back when I was just lurking here, there was a thread about Ping possibly going into Dicks Sporting goods. And to my suprise many posters said they would stop using Ping, if "the average joe" could use them too.

Yet, these are the people according research of posts, that as soon as someone says which driver or iron, they say "Ping".

Everybody is completely different with their swing. In todays day and age of technology the difference in equipment is not much. But it is more about what feels good and looks good in your hand at setup and contact.

I guess the whole point to this was that I have no point, other than I think that this forum is great. I love the conversations, but they get redundant when everyone says the same thing in about every thread. In my mind, the more I read these threads, the more I think that people are trying to justify their own purchases. Could a high handicap player possibly tell a low handicap player what irons are the best. And vice versa, could I possibly tell a high handicapper that he should be trying to work the ball with "players irons"? Of course not.

My favorite though, is when someone makes a post and says do your like "club A" better than "club b", and half of the posts bring in other clubs because the posters have those clubs. Its like a crazy circle.

Oh well, rant over!

I'd say stick with ping. Even if dicks gets them, they are still great clubs. I play ping i10's, i highly recommend them, they are sweet and feel just right.

For a driver I;d say go with a Ping G10, very forgiving but still workable.

I just got a titleist 906f4 and have been hitting it well, I think you should get one too.

And let me tell you, my favorite club to hit is my new burner hybrid. It is so sweet and I can't hit it anywhere but 225 down the middle.

I think that is natural and expected, but I do try avoid chiming in with my clubs, in part because they aren't made any more and that I think golf clubs are a very personal thing, there is no one sizes fits all.

I think asking a forum of people that for the most part you don't know isn't the best way to get an opinion of what might suit you for the simple reason that we don't know you.

Am I wrong or did this post reenforce the OP? Was it sarcasm?

It kinda sounds to me like you are trying to say that some people who play Ping have an eliteist or a greater-than-thou attitude.

Part of that is because people make a new thread asking the same old question instead of doing a search and reading existing threads on that same subject.

My favorite though, is when someone makes a post and says do your like "club A" better than "club b", and half of the posts bring in other clubs because the posters have those clubs. Its like a crazy circle.

True, its only natural for someone to think that the clubs they play are the best. No one is going to say that the shiny, new driver they just bought is junk.

At the end of the day, the thing to remember is that we all are just sharing our OPINIONS . My opinions may not be 100% correct (infact, Im pretty sure they arent), but they are my own and they can be taken for whatever they are worth. I take everyone else's posts the same way. I respect everyone else's opinions and take them into consideration, but Im not going to go out and buy a certain brand just because a bunch of people on some forum say so.

I was a bit dumbfounded by that post as well.

If it was intended as sarcasm or parody, it was some damn fine work. Top-level stuff. Yet, I fear it was just another example of someone failing to actually read the post(s) that came before him. All too common, I'm afraid. People more interested in having their voice heard than listening. I would like to think he was rushing to "help" with the best intentions. But the world already has too many folks mucking things up trying to "help" without really knowing what they are getting into. Thankfully, this is just the internet, so it ain't no thang.

I was not ever trying to say that anyone who plays certain clubs have an elitest attitude.

Haha that's funny I thought the same thing... it's gotta be sarcasm. I mean in general everyone is going to say that their clubs are the best because in their view they are the best, or else they wouldn't have them. So like for instance I'm going to say Titleist drivers are the best because I have one. Do I think Titleist drivers are the best? Of course I do, but does that mean that they are the best? Absolutely not, the best clubs are the ones that will give you confidence and that help you play your game the best.

I'd buy and still play Pings if they were sold at Dick's. I buy them off ebay. I own a set of Eye 2 +, ISI, i3, i5 and s59 Tour. I'm no elitist, i just think they make the best clubs. I've gone from shooting in the 90s to the mid/high 70s in two years.
