I use Vokey wedges, have forever. New wedges will always suck back like a cheap barfly. So once you actually decide, don't be surprised if they still dance a little.

I agree with the other experts on changing your ball. It could be as simple as trying a higher ball flight, and maybe moving the ball position around for a couple weeks.

The problem is not with your wedges, it is with you. You need to work on your technique a bit and change balls. You must be playing on very soft greens. As for "forged wedges", what difference could they possibly make? Methinks you are trying to compliment yourself in a backhanded manner, complaining about this accursed ability to spin the ball which so many players boast about. I think your "problem" is a plea for praise, and I don't believe you anyway. If it were true you would have changed to a Top Flite ages ago.

this is not what im trying to say. And to answer the question about the playing conditions, they are very soft because of how much they get watered. We also get a large amount of rainfall in illinois and the course never really dries out or anything. Im just looking for a wedge that doesnt spin the ball a extreme amount. I'm going to take the advice given by the gentlemen who suggested i try all the wedges on the range. And i dont want to change my golf ball because i really like the distance and control i get from my blacks.

Mizuno makes a really nice line-up of wedges. The best thing is that they are forged so you get a nice feel off of them. And, isn't the short game all about feel?

    • Once, on a course in Middleton, Massachusetts that I used to love but has since closed down,  I hit the wrong half of a huge, UK style double green.  Then I made the hundred foot putt.  Tough to  forget that one.
    • No. But if I can still play next year, I'll almost certainly be even worse. That's the reality of not being young.🙁
    • I use GPS;  it may not be as accurate, but neither am I.
    • Back in my Army days a "gooch" was a particular part of the anatomy. Example, say Okeechobee is the b-hole of Florida, then Belle Glade would be the gooch. Seems he wears his name well.
    • I can't say that I remember a lot of individual putts, but I do have one specific memory.  The first time I played the Old Course, I had hit a pretty good drive on the 6th hole.  I had about 60 yards left, and due to the swale in front of the green, there was no chance of flying a wedge on or near the green and having it stop on the green.  My caddie recommended either a running 7-iron chip or a putt, and I took the putter and a pretty hard swing.  The ball rolled over humps and through hollows, disappeared into the swale in front of the green, and re-appeared heading right at the hole.  I ended up maybe 12 feet away.  The caddie turned and held out his hand to shake mine, and said "Now THAT was a golf shot!"
