I'm considering purchasing a skycaddie but I'm not sure which one to get. I have looked at their web site and except for price and the version with color, they all seem to have the same amenities and do the same thing.

Any thoughts?

Yes they do the same thing. But the two biggest differences are power. One will use Double A batteries. The other will have rechargable batteries.

The SG5 is the top of the line. It has a color display, larger screen, is rechargable, and has different "tech" capabilities.

The SG2.5 is more price point oriented, while also offering a rechargeable battery, it's a bit lighter, and no color screen.

The SG3 and SG4 are still available but I believe that they are being phased out.

I love the SG3.

Now that I'm retired sometimes I play 4 times a week...sometimes once a week...sometimes I don't even plan it, I just get the whim and go. Since the SG3 uses two AA batteries it never leaves my bag and I never have to have it connected to a charger at home. I just keep extra batteries in my bag and I'm ready to go at a moments notice, and the batteries last about three rounds anyway.
