I can't wait for the election to be over so we can all be friends again!

Politics is one of the worst topics to discuss. It's basically impossible to find anyone who agrees with you EXACTLY. So sooner or later everyone's going to have a different view on SOMETHING. We've been going at it tooth and nail in several threads for a while now. I hope we all realize that we are all passionate about our beliefs but when it's all said and done we're all in the same boat. At least I can be happy that it appears that most people (the ones of voting age and who live in the U.S.) ar actually going to go out and VOTE! At least that gives you the right to bitch and complain (you = everyone).

I hope everyone who has posted in these threads is thick-skinned and is not going to hold anything that gets said in these political threads to carry over into the other threads on this message board. I know about half the people here don't agree with my views, just as half don't agree with yours. I hope we can keep the political arguments in the threads where they belong and chill out in the others. Especially after the elections are over.

It could be a LOOOOOOOng two more months!

tell me about it. i'm not even voting age and its all my friends talk about. And live in the Peoples Republic of Madison. so nearly everybody is ultra ultra ultra liberal.

not that there is anything wrong with that. just for somebody in the middle its crazy when you say something than are immediately ridiculed because it doesn't coincide with their (which means their parents) political beliefs.

can't wait till its over

Has anyone else noticed that with this election more than any other in recent memory it feels like if you dont vote a certain way (against bush, even though he is not running) than you are EVIL? I have never seen anything like this before.

Just remember that whenever you get too near a politician, you need to take a hot shower afterwards.

This is the one problem I have with the US system...it is

so drawn out it gets tedious. One reason I favour the British way, election is called and happens in two months and that's it for a few more years. Even my parents in the UK are getting tired of the coverage back there! On the Friday when Sarah Palin was nominated as VP it was announced on our cross country flight over the PA as if it was urgent news!

Got a thing for Joe Biden?

The real measure of a person is to be able to listen to another, weight the other's view in the balance, and respect that both are better for the exchange.

It is golf that has brought our diverging views together; and, we'll be the better for it as long as we choose to respect each other and what we bring to the table.

Is that so much to ask?

Today's "attack" on Obama by McCain's camp is one of the reasons why I absolutely hate politicians. Last year, McCain used the same exact line to describe Hillary Clinton's Health Care reform. Was it a personal attack? An attack on women? Of course not. Neither was Obama's.

It's frustrating that people believe in the same thing but can't agree on how to go about it because of committments to special interests groups. In NY, the Governor's engineering group found a way to save $400 million dollars for the new Ground Zero tribute that is being erected. However, the engineers have been soooooooooo slow to respond that if they don't get finished by the end of 2009, there will be no savings. Sorry, rant over.

Personally, I think McCain and Obama have great qualities. I can't stomach either Palin or Biden. I don't know who I'll vote for and probably won't know until I get into the booth.

    • Yes. If you choose to take the ball out of the bunker instead of taking maximum available relief… it costs a stroke.
    • I got another one today....Number 17. Par 5 that has water left and right on the layup. I smacked a drive down the left side and got a little lazy on the layup and fanned my 6 iron. With 112 to a crowned green I got it to 3 feet and birdie!  Only 5 and 15 is left for this year!
    • Maybe I didn’t explain this properly. Back and front can be confusing.  There was no place in the bunker that didn’t have 2-3 inches of rain water in it, except for a small spot on the slope nearest the pin. If I had dropped there I would be moving 6-7 feet closer to the hole. Since my ball was just inside the bunker, farthest side from the hole, I dropped one club length backward, which brought me out of the bunker. I could not have hit from that deep of water. Are you saying I would have had to take a penalty stroke due to rain water?
    • Day 550, May 5, 2024 Got a good hour in with a typical (for me) two-stick setup: pool noodle angled in front, yardstick on the ground angled 45° behind me.
    • Day 130: Cinco de Mayo Day 7/24 of Full Speed Spectrum training. Difficult training day after struggling to certify my warmup yesterday, and today. Finished 13 mph lower than my training speed on Thursday. Hope to hit some balls today.
