Hi,
I noticed I now have high res google earth imagery of my home course and was wondered does anyone know any golf applications to do the following. I want to enter the GPS coordinates of points of interest on the course map into say my PDA and using it's GPS I then want to be able to go out on the course and know my distances. I know there are dedicated GPS systems for golf out there but alot of them require you to manually walk your course to map it which could take a lot of time if the course is not pre loaded. Them dedicated GPS tools do not appear to have any decent backing analysis software so that along with serious price tags have turned me away from them.

Hi,

The best thing to use the ortho imagery for is to measure distances on the course and record them on a notepad for use on the course. I've done it for my home course and it helped a lot with distances from/to trees, bunkers, tees, greens

Have you tried the distance tool in Google Earth?

Easy to make a birdie book. You can grab distance from the center of the green to bunkers etc. and then type them in the image. Then copy and paste into photo shop and crop the hole etc.
