My 14 year old son who has a violent swing hit one and loved it. But at $300 would be a big waste of money as I am sure they will be $99 at sports authority in no time.

Got one in my bag. Can hit some pretty decent drives with this stick, but the sound is a bit annoying. But hey, it's the result that counts.

Yeah I have no doubt that the price will go down....they all do eventually for the most part but I have never seen Wilson Staff at my Sports Authority here on the west coast anyway. Thanks for the input, I'm just trying to get a list of drivers I want to try out when I get fitted next month. Since my handicap has dropped and I no longer hook left, I'm looking to get a driver with less loft. I may just with stay with the Hibore XL, since it has worked out so well for me thus far.

Yeah, he is obviously confusing Wilson Staff and Wilson (regular). Two very different types of clubs.

It's a common mistake, one I too, was guilty of when I first started playing...

They may or may not actually be at Sports Authority. My point was, these will not in the long run be be in the same class as any of the pro line clubs that you could get.
I've seen them for $80 used at Golf Gallaxy.

You have seen a Wilson Staff Spine Driver for $80? I would buy it. They are very much a pro line club. Most clubs like cars lose their value once they have been played. Heck I dont know any drivers that dont. But Wilson Staff makes great clubs. If you dont like them that is fine. BUt they belong in the same catagory as Taylor Made and Callaway. They are front line clubs. Most people look down on them because they make a cheap line called Wilson.

What makes a club "in the same class"? Name Brand? If so Wilson Staff will be there. Pros using it? Harrington plays them and he has won 2 majors this year. I dont get it?

No confusion here my friend. It was used. Wilson Staff has had it's ups and downs over the years. I played the FG 51 irons 15 years ago.

Back in the day Hale Irwin, Payne Stewart, John Daly were their poster boys.
Wilson went away from pro line golf for a while and are now trying to get back into the limelite with Padraig. BTW I'll bet he doesn't play that driver.

But hey if you want to buy the Spine and it works for you all the best to you.
I was only trying to save you some money by waiting. IT will have very little resale value.

What drivers have resale value? Most are worth very little within 1 year. To say they are not Pro Line clubs is crazy.

Calm down, buy one and enjoy it, sorry to get you all riled up.

I dont play one, and nobody is worked up. The point of message boards are conversations, and I simply did not agree with you. That is allowed, and that is why boards are here. If we all felt that one club was the "best" there would be no need to have forums.

Your right, he doesn't play the Spine, he plays their new driver (due late '09) the Wilson Staff Smooth

Rock Bottom Golf has the new Spine still at $299 and used on Ebay average half that. Its going to take some time for the new price to drop into clearance mode, at least until a couple of month period before a new driver is released.

The Spine's big play was on the technology but I guess it didn't quite work; kinda like the Hippo Hex (though golf digest gave the Hex a favorable review last year).
