So I did a quick search, and couldn't find anything.. if this has been covered, please don't hate on me... I've got a pair of Adidas Tech Response cleats, and the time has come to change out the spikes for the first time... I cleaned out the holes, put the spike wrench on and they don't turn... Instead the holes are tearing and the spike is staying put. Any tricks to get the first set of spikes out of the shoes?

It happens a lot. If it tears the holes, grab a pair of vice grips or pliars and have at it. No damage will be done.

how long do spikes last? I have a pair of shoes and they are looking worn out, but I can't tell when they need to be replaced. I have had these shoes for a few years but until this year probably only played 10 rounds total (i play about 1 to 1.5 rounds a week now) so i would say they probably have about 360+ holes on them, and I usually always walk.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

I've only had mine since April, playing about 2 times a month... I noticed a couple of the spikes broke so I figured that meant they needed replaced, haha. I assume it all depends on how much you walk, and where you walk (hard areas vs. soft)

Call your local golf store and ask them on the phone if they will assist with replacing spikes. I never bother removed my old spikes and have them do it at the store.

Not sure what type yours take but the vice grip suggestion is what I'd do if the wrench tore 'em up to bad to twist out.

The last two pair of shoes I've had were FJs. They both had the 'fast-twist' type spikes. These are so dang easy to change out that there is no excuse for not doing so very frequently.

The current pair that I'm playing are made by NIKE and have the absolutely best gripping set of soft type spikes I've ever used. They are super. I haven't a clue how easy they'll be to remove.

Good luck.....drill 'em out with a drill if it comes down to it.

They are the fast-twist style. But they're the spikes Adidas installed in the factory, so I figured that's why they were so tight... Does anyone add anything to the threads to make the next set easier to remove?

I swapped out the soft spikes on my Nikes with new Stingers last weekend, and the factory installed ones are a pain to remove, almost as if they are glued in. The lame removal tool bent like tin before the spikes started moving, so I grabbed a flathead screwdriver and jammed it into the crevice of each spike and dug around until they loosened up. After that they came off pretty easily. Presumably the replacement spikes will come out much more easily.
